So I was sitting here, thinking about how much I didn't want to be up, and noticed that it was an hour earlier than I needed to be up. Thank god for my computer setting itself automatically, or I'd be outside waiting for my bus for a very long time. Anyway, getting to go back to bed for an hour was nice, but I do wish I could have remembered last night, so I could have stayed in bed, instead of going back to bed. Oh well.
Anyway, Fuzzy's Halloween party went pretty well. Due to some serious sleep issues the night before, I spent most of that day feeling something like a barely animated corpse, so I was actually kind of dreading it a little. But I was OK, and managed to hold out until I got a lift home around 12:30. One slightly nerve-wracking moment was when Fuzzy brought me over to introduce me to some people who had been some of Tracey's best friends. Yikes. I'm just happy, actually, that he didn't give me too much advance warning. If he'd told me they would be there the day before or something, I would have had far more time to get freaked out. Instead, I just got, "I want you to meet some people. It's really important to me," and over we went. And, thank god, they were very nice and very gracious and all that, and I'm pretty sure they didn't think I was a horrible abomination not worthy of taking her place or anything. Anyway, I also did a reading as part of the season launch, and I'm told I did pretty well, so that's good too.
Today, I'm off to work again, where I'm sure I will have to deal with more Million Little Pieces crazies. Guh. Had the weirdest exchange with a lady last night, though.
Me: Hi, can I help you find anything?
Her: Am I allowed to look at the books?
Me: Um, yeah, of course.
Her: OK, sorry.
The hell? I honestly can't decide, either, if she was seriously asking me if it was OK, or if she was being sarcastic and essentially telling me to fuck off and leave her alone. She sounded serious, but I have no clue. Ah well.
