Disney Double Date

Nov 12, 2008 15:34

On Sunday I went up to Disneyland with bearringsd, sluggobear, and bearxxl. We met up with friend Billy (not on LJ)--who in crazyville coincidences ended up parking right next to us in the structure--and headed into the park about an hour or so after it had opened. I had already planned on going to Disney because my family was heading as well. Yup, Grandma and Grandpa wanted to go for their anniversary (I believe they're at 58 years now?) so Mom was there along with my aunt Liz/Uncle Pat, Cousin Matt and his fiance Liz, Uncle Bill and his son Jarred. It was a great day if a little on the chilly side.

Grandma and Mom

One of my Fav Tower Pics ever (even if Mikey is totally blocking Henry and Billy)

I spent most of the day with my family. G and G were in wheelchairs because walking the whole day would have been too much. They both loved Soarin' Over CA. My Mom had fun on her first time on Toy Story (and she scored well too!). We spent a long time at lunch, did Turtle Talk (a hit) and then headed over to MK for a ride on Pirates and Haunted Mansion. I have to say - that age old theory that folks in wheelchairs are living the high life at Disney with front of the line privealages is grossly innacurate. We waited as long (and at times it felt longer) than guests in the normal lines. I didn't mind though, I enjoyed the time talking with family and checking out all the Goths in the park. Oh yeah, it was Bat Day - the unofficial Goth day at Disney. Really amps up the people watching factor in the big way.

Look Mommy, Goths!  They were sweet and were totally cool about me snapping a photo.

My family left the park midday and I caught up with the fellas. We did Tower and then went to MK to round out the night with Space Mountain, Fantasmic, and The Matterhorn. Cool Moment - We were trying to get seats for Fantasmic but we arrived a little late and there wasn't any seating left. Well, Mikey got into talking with a guy working there and he asked us if it was a birthday or special occasion - I said "would it help if we said it was?" and perhaps he dug my honesty of Mikey's hotness (gayness) but he hooked us up with special seating right in the middle. So I sat with my new Grumpy knit cap firmly on my shaved head and enjoyed every minute of it.

Us - John, Billy, Henry, Mikey, Me - Damn good times...

I think we all slept and snored on the way home so John gets double points for driving this time around.

things that make me feel good, good times, theme parks, disneyland, family
