If you didn't see it on Gizmodo or one of the other geek sites, Playon Media Server is in a beta release and is free (for now - it'll have a $30 price tag down the road) for download now. What does it do? Well, in the here and now it allows your PS3 or xBox to stream content from sites like Hulu.com (and Netflix very soon) and quite a few other big players on your television.

If you haven't been on Hulu lately they have seriously ramped up their content. Tons of NBC/Universal stuff and a LOT of classic and awesome movies. The Netflix access will make the "watch now" feature for some of their content totally worth while.

I'm gonna d/l this today and check it out. It's also supposed to be set to work with the Wii down the road too!

You can visit the developer blog to read more (and to download it)... [Note - Downloads are currently suspended due to a bug, but once it's resolved they'll let more beta users in]

Speaking of Wii's - Not that you probably need one, but if you'd like to hack your Wii so you can play DVDs on it there is currently a hack available that exploits an item that's on the Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess disc. So if you have the game and an adventurous spirit DVD viewiing awaits you! The Twilight Hack
