The Second Post is about being away from LJ for five days...

Time it does fly.  I don't usually check in with LJ on the weekends... so when Monday comes around I do a big ol' catch-up with LJ day.  Sometimes that gets pushed to Tuesdays.  But with this week it's gotten pushed to today so here I be.  Why the push you ask?  Well, it's been a handful of days with highs and lows my friends...

Friday I had a great time headin' for pasta at Viva Pasta with JP, Justin, and Joel (BJ combos all around - snicker).  From there we headed for yogurt followed by some Rock Band and a showing of the original Willy Wonka (which JP hadn't seen for ages).  Justin protested (a lot) but he was sittin' next to very cuddle-worthy Joel so he shut up after a while and took it like a man.  RobHe%$s joined as well but he slept through at least three of the children getting their commupances.

Me, JP, Joel, Justin

Saturday Matt and I headed up to Mira Mesa for some sushi (Hells yes to Bamboo Hut goodness) followed by Kung Fu Panda on IMAX.  KFP was kick ass.  I'd recommend it.  A whole heck of a lot of fun and Jack Black really came through - totally not over the top.  No extra charge for awesome.  After the flick (oh yeah, Matt broke my flip-flop and I owned the fuck out of him on Dance Dance Revolution) we shopped for books at B and N (had a 50 buck card from christmas and got new David S, Chuck P as well as some Capote) and then hit Best Buy.  I wanted to get the new Lego Indy but they had sold out.

Dad Safari at Best Buy and Holy Damn, the 80s exploded all over Old Navy... Eek!

Sunday was an excellent day spent playing volleyball.  I didn't put sunscreen on my legs though so I got a bit tore up.  I played 6s for about an hour and then got called over to one of the higher skills nets to play 4s.  Oh man, it was sooooooooo much fun.  Played for about 5 hours when all was said and done.  Damn I love playing volleyball!  That night I met up with John and we got some YogArt and that was tasty.

Wicked sock tan... ouch!

Monday I worked from home and dealt with work shit.  When i went to drive to the bar gig my car started acting up.  I wasn't able to immediately give it gas.  It was odd.  I was on the phone with Jason at the time and it was a total WTF? moment.  The car ended up working though and I went down and worked my shift - which was decent.  After work the car turned over but when I went to put it in Drive it was like stepping in pudding.  No reaction at all.  Same with reverse.  Then the electrical shit went odd and the battery died.  So at 2:20am I had to walk home.

Tuesday I called a tow truck and they took it off to the dealer to be looked at.  Matt and I went for lunch at Chick-Fila and then went to the dealership.  Turns out I had three outstanding recalls on my car (d'oh!) and one of 'em was for the alternator.  So, big w00t, it was covered.  The car has 60k+ miles on it though so I told them to do the works on the old gal while it's there.  It's gonna cost me about $480 but it'll be good to have my car be strong like bull again.  Thankfully with the carpool I'm set for rides to work.

In other news...

I put in Disc 2 of Weeds last night and as it went into "previosly on" I felt like I was missing something.  I hadn't seen most of what they were referencing.  I then went to the episode selection screen and it started with "six".  I had only watched 4 eps so far.  Odd.  It was then that I realized they didn't list all the eps on a single screen.  You had to click "next".  So - that means I had two eps on Disc 1 I hadn't watched!  So now I have to netflix Season 2 disc 1 again.  D'oh!

Lego Indiana Jones fucking ROCKS!

The 10 Things Meme... Hehe, ok... Let me just say that posting to your LJ about how passive agrresive it is to type out something and not just say it to the person and hate all over the meme is... well, ballsy and pretty damn ironic.  Dontcha think?  Yup, I'm doing the same here.  But I *own* my passive aggression.  How 'bout you complainers own yours for once?  And before you get all double bent out of shape just take a deep breath and get over it.  Sheesh.

Music - New Coldplay is ok... seeing if it grows on me.  New Fratellis is ok, seeing if it holds up since it's not really wowing me like the first disc did.  New Weezer has all kinds of nifty tracks and I listen to it a lot.  New Beck sounds sleepy but I've only heard one track.  I am still head over heals in love with the last Editors album.

Tekkon Kinkreet was a decent flick.  Loved the artwork.

I'm from Kern County originally and it totally brought me down to see that ass hat chick being so uncool to the gays.  My Dad told me he knew of a female minister who would be on the courthouse steps ready to marry any couple that was there on Monday.

And lastly, speaking of Dad.  He gave me a hell of a Father's Day gift.  Check this out... My Dad (the Reverend) is going to marry two of my good friends.  That is to say, he's going to do the marriage service for two buds who are getting hitched (grin).  I am so incredibly psyched by this!  I wasn't sure if it was going to work out and then suddenly, there he was - following up to my phone call with an affirmative email post schedule-check.  It'll be odd having my worlds collide like this but how fucking amazingly cool will it be to have him involved?  I mean - it's this historic moment for two guys I care for quite a bit.  I'm honored that they would consider my Dad and just so damn excited by it all.

Happy

friends, stuff, music, tv, work, gay marriage, life, dad, meme crap, movies, my car
