The Disney Matrix - On a 30 Day Cycle

Apr 15, 2008 17:27

Hey guys, here I am...  I've been watching that darn movie Zeitgeist  (thanks
grumblor) while working on some reports and I'm caught in the rather gray pulls of the tides of conspiracy.  I evened it out a bit by reading some articles and web blogs from other folks and I think the most interesting one was a spin from a Christian site that just focused on debunking the Jesus as Pisces Sun God leech theory by using examples from (wait for it...) the Bible.  You gotta love logic like that.  How simple a world this would be if I could convince myself that God is real, Jesus lived, and Heaven awaits.  But sadly, that cake is a lie.

And onto better things.  I'm thinking that my blog has gotten bogged down in rather heavy subjects of late.  But see, so have I.  Between figuring things out with my Father and rejecting my "Father" I've had a lot on my mind.  I mean come on now... Dad issues and questioning religion?  Just one of those is enough to keep a guy awake at night.  The Dad issues especially.  Maybe someday I'll really sit down and write out all that I've been through over the years on my journey towards that rather historic phone call a month or so ago.  The ramifications of my change of mental state include some pretty interesting developments.  But yeah, sorry.  I'm still sorting through a lot of it and Dad and I are just barely getting started on getting to know one another again.  So you'll have to be patient with me when it comes to sharing most of the details of that particular journey.

Uggh, still heavy... Ok - I promise to now lighten things up!  I had a nice weekend...  Watched a couple of movies (The Lives of Others and Freeway).  Lives was excellent.  A slow burn but well filmed and satisfying.  Freeway was one that
sluggobear had recommended to me and seeing as how I'm always on him over the films he hasn't seen I sorta owed it to him to see one of the few he's given me a hard time over not having seen.  It was pretty damn good.  It took a while to get to where I felt it was paying off but I loved the absurdity of it all - not to mention all the familiar faces in the darn thing.

Sunday was all about the bears heading to Disneyland.  Wow, what a day.  We were on the road shortly after 6am and in the park when it opened.  On top of the usual cast of 619ers we had the lovely pleasure of having folks from LA and various other locals there as well.  Getting to meet
jeffnuma and
pilosus was a great surprise (even if I spaced and didn't make the LJ connection right away).  Was also very cool that
e_ticket and
fidgetcub were able to come out and hit some rides.  My Sister, nephew, uncle, and two cousins (and girlfriend) also joined us and I like to think they made Dave's day when they exalted him with "So you are the Dave Cobb?" when they met him.  Yes, The Technique has been pass to the straights as well.

It was pretty darn hot on Sunday.  We cooled off a little with Splash Mountain and tried to again with Grizzly Rapids but with the soarin' temps the line was 2 hours and the Fast Pass return time was late in the evening (when it cooled off nicely).  Apart from the heat it really was an excellent day.  The Fellowship of Bears was broken by lunchtime though with three "teams" created to handle all the different agendas folks had ride-wise.  We had Team Yada, Team Pinner (aka Team BGD), and Team KFAD (aka Team Sparkle Motion).  By the time the day was done we had ridden all the core rides at least once (minus Soarin') and a handful of us snagged sweet seats for Fantasmic and sat with Ooooo's and Ahhhhh's at what is quite literally Mickey's Wet Dream.  By the time the last of us (
bearxxl,
bearringsd,
jpinsd and friends) left the park it was around 10:45pm (yeah, we had to do Haunted, Pirates, and Indy before we called it-hehe) or so.  With my having to work both jobs yesterday it was a tough bit of turn around but more than worth it for the good times that were had.

A note of thanks to everyone who took part and for those of you who returned bemused looks whenever I got a little too into keeping all the cats herded (and of course to Mikey for putting it all together in the first place).  I do my best when there are so many gays involved but I learned a couple of things when it comes to hitting the parks with that many people.  Thankfully I had Mikey and Dave there to help further my education.  Ha!  Good times.  I picked up a new pin for my lanyard too.  It's a special edition mouse ears one that is in honor of Mr Toad's Wild Ride (yes, I'm a dork - no need to point that out).  I like it quite a bit.

My sister and my uncle Bill both passed along big thanks for being included with all the gays.  They had a blast and really enjoyed hanging with everyone.  It made my sister's night when we called her back before Fantasmic to say so-long.

So so so... Here and now.  I'm typing away at 6pm at work listening to a combo of Great Lakes Swimmers, Interpol, REM, and Band of Horses... I have a report to do before I leave here as well as some follow-up work on a request for a big event we're doing in late June.  This week I'll be keeping near the home I think.
bentwright is gonna crash next week while he's in town so I should probably toss some of the soda cans and pizza boxes.  And then there's the first weekend in May to look forward to.  And hell, I need to get out and see a movie or something. It's been a while.  Looking towards Harold and Kumar, Iron Man, Indy and thanks to
mattycub - The Fall. (Three way knock out punch of Fincher, Jonz, and Tarsem!)

Got my hairs cut off yesterday.  I know I look out of it in the photos but I was still sorta post-disney blah blah...

(before and after... ditched the beard for warmer weather goatee action)

Oh man, I almost forgot.  I got so into writing about religion etc... *slap*... Ok, just write about it Brian... damn son!  So yeah, was working at the bar last night and it was pretty slow.  Maverick1303 was out (which sucked) so I didn't have anyone to bust with and pass time.  Thankfully Chuck came by as did Bryson and Dan... and also Brian (Chrissy) and his super hot pal Miles from Dallas and also B.Savage too - er, okay.. yeah... so people were there - bitching stopped.  Anyhow, later on it cleared out and I was just doing my thing.  This one oddball guy who comes in now and again and thinks that love equals a cock in his butt was feeling down because some guys on the back patio were fucking with him.  Inviting him to sit down and then rejecting him (over and over because he kept going back).  I gave him a little tough love and told him to stay off the damn patio and just go home and jerk off and be done with it.  At the same time I had this guy ordering Bacardi/Diets all night and each time he'd have a nice smile, tip me well, and make small talk.  I comped him a drink and noticed when I went out on the patio that he was talking with a few guys and having a nice time.  Seemed like he was getting a hook-up going etc.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  Well, later on the guy he had been talking with for a while left with some other loud mouth a.hole.  Bacardi came out to my bar and said "on a night like this I need a shot..." and he had one.  He was just barely keeping his smile.  I told him to keep his chin up and then something happened and all I could do was just sit there and watch it unfold.  The guy broke down and he started to tear up... He just looked so defeated (be it life, rejection, alcohol, what have you) and as I stood there one of my late night regulars (soft spoken African gentleman who drinks our crappy Merlot) gets off of his stool walks over and gives the man a hug.  The man sorta backs away a bit but the guy doesn't let go and then Bacardi just gives in and let's himself go and he cries.  And all the while the gentleman just holds him and rocks him and sooths him.  They did this for about five minutes in an almost empty bar.  Then the connection broke, Bacardi looked around a little sheepishly, smiled, and then walked out of the bar.  The Merlot drinker smiled and say down at his stool.

Things like that make me happy...

friends, good times, our fucked up world, work, disney, life, hope, dad, religion, meme crap, me
