The Post Without LJ Handles

Feb 25, 2008 13:57

Not that anyone has probably noticed but I think my journal has sorta sucked lately.  I think it's because I got a little off-kilter with my week o' sickness and I've been spending the last two weeks trying to catch up on work, life, LJ while buying things to totally distract me (hello PS3, bluray, rockband, portal, WoW) from getting things done.  Yes, my multi-tasking muscles are weak...

I have a Firefox browser at work with about 40 tabs of LJ entries set aside to comment on (and thank you Gary for pointing out that my response was something Two Weeks ago would have loved) hehehe.

I had a nice weekend though.  I went out and drank some on Friday and ended up closing the bar.  JP, Tim, Dave, Bryson, were there too and we had a good time and I drank quite a bit (oh, did I mention that?).  I think I just needed to blow off some steam and it was nice to do that.

I slept in sorta late on Saturday and then got my hairs cut.  The place I go to moved to a new location on 5th and it's really really nice.  Bright and breezy and only a block from the park.  I think Dave is really happy to be there and as he cuts all 12 of my hairs without laughing at me so I'm happy he is happy.  Mikey, Matt, and Henry were having brunch at Hash House and they invited me to join 'em so I did.  I spent it letting Matt vent his sickness on me in the form of bitterness while we all took turns looking at this hot bear dood who was sitting with his partner nearby.  Joe, if you read this - let's totally do it someday because you are all kinds of hot and yer partner is sexE too.  The food was good and as is generally the case at Hash House there was far too much of it to conceivably be finished.

I met up with WoW Bears after (JP and Zach) and we played for about four hours with our Blood Elves.  Makeafist is now at lvl 19 and I'm really enjoying playing.  The Saturday part is not awesome but it's worth playing Saturdays if Z can join us.

I decided not to go out or do anything that night.  Instead I stayed in and watched my Netflix movies that I'd been holding onto for weeks.  Die Hard 4 (which I loved) and Little Voice (which I liked quite a bit).  I played some more Portal too.

Sunday I went into Emo mode by watching the terrific production of Company that was playing on Great Performances on PBS over the weekend.  I'd never seen it before nor heard the recording (beyond "Ladies Who Lunch" in Camp) but I'd heard good things.  It's a scaled down production where the performers act/sing as expected but they also play an instrument - so there is no orchestra per se.  I'm soooooo glad that Matt sent out a Twitter about it being on.  Talk about a piece of art that resonates!!!  If you are able to, be sure and seek this out.  You can buy it online for about 25 bucks I think.  Did I mention it's Sondheim?  Just a marvelous production all the way around.

So yeah, I was feeling all introspective and quiet (don't laugh) but I put myself in gear and met up with JP and we headed to Gary and Bob's to watch the Oscars on their ginormous HD projector screen...   Wine was drank, company was had... good times.  The only downside was in a room of buzzing gays I didn't get to listen to the performance from "Once" without some white noise.  But it's okay.. it was still pretty awesome and when they won I put my hands up and gave a shout.  I was also really happy that Tilda won as she's one of those people I always hope will do well (along those lines it was excellent to see Sarah Polley nominated for her adaptation even if she didn't win).  I thought John Stewart did a great job and for the most part I though the ceremony was just fine.  Enjoyable even.

I got home around 9:30 or so and decided to play Portal.  I posted about that earlier and let's just say between the game and the two sodas I had I didn't get to sleep 'til close to 2am...  I had the most bizarre dream that involved business travel, going to the wrong hotel, having tickets for a Broadway show that was staged on pier, and trying to use 23rd century rapid transit...  It was one of those insanely long dreams that I rarely ever have.

And now I'm here at work - yaay me...  4 days to go... thank goodness Scott is around to IM with me and make the day go by quicker...
