Barefoot in the Park

I'm taking a break from working on reports for a bit and I decided to poke around some and look for a copy of something I have wanted for ages: Barefoot in the Park.  No, not the stale semi-crappy Redford/Fonda version, but rather the hilarious, classic, awesome live HBO staged production that was done back in '81 starring Bess Armstrong (best known for her role in Jaws 3 or Four Seasons I guess?), Richard Thomas (John Boy Walton), and Barbara Barrie (she's been in tons of things).  I remember one of my favorite moments when Barrie talks about not being able to make a fist after having tried a delicacy in the apartment of Mr. Velasco.

Anyhow, I remember adoring it when I was a neophyte gay (just 8 years old at the time).  My Dad had taped it onto our (oh yes) Betamax and I probably watched it every week or so.

I went on IMDb and found two people who have DVD copies of VHS rips and I'm hoping to get my hands on one.  Do any of y'all in the biz think that HBO might get around to releasing it some day?  I wonder what steps would need to be taken to let them know that people are even desirous of such a release?  I know from reading the message boards on IMBb that I'm not the only one who grew up watching it.

hbo, memories, wishlist
