I picked up a fill in shift at the bar tonight--working on the patio... And, well... I'm somewhat horrified to admit this but putting American Idol on pretty much made the shift. As you'll recall in the past I've had run-ins with American Idolaters (
Bitch Post #1,
Bitch Post #2) and it wasn't pretty. Tonight though I went in knowing this wasn't my shift and that the regular bartender plays AI with the sound up. So I did as well. And folks, the patio was packed and people had a blast. I pretty much made close to the same tips in 5 hours of work that I normally work 7 or 8 for on a Monday night. So not too bad at all.
The big mystery of the night was who the hell that Carol chick was who was guest judging. With the bad hair, cake-up (er, I mean make-up), and botox we all thought it was Joan Collins. I've since found out through curlio.com that "The judges would be getting some famous help to judge the auditions in New York City. Songwriter Carol Bayer Sager has written some of the greatest love songs. She's earned an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony and some other awards. She's written such hits as "Groovy Kind of Love" and "That's What Friends are For." More importantly, she's from New York." So mystery solved.
It's 1am now and I'm close to headin' towards bed. And in hot damn news, Todd will be here tomorrow - picking him up from the airport at 11:30am. We'll head up to Laguna tomorrow night and then it's off to Disney on Friday and back to SD for the rest of the weekend. I'm pretty damn excited I gotta say.
