My weekend didn't play out quite like I had planned but I still did have an enjoyable time. I drove up to Hot Scott's pad on Friday and made really good time. I left Carlsbad around 6pm, took the LB toll road, stopped for a burger at In-N-Out and still made it to Scott's by around 8pm. He wasn't home from work yet so I made myself comfy, read my book, and promptly fell to sleep. He woke me up when he got in and basically said "I can't lay down or I won't make it out" so I pushed him into the shower and once he was all cleaned up we headed to The Factory for the always enjoyable PopStarz.
We met up with Wayne and his buddy Ian right as we got there and Gary C. entered the hizzy shortly thereafter with his Pussy Posse. He travels with some fine womens that Gary C. We all go prelubricated on cheap drinks and were soon joined by Miguel and Auric before the music had even really gotten going. But soon the tunes were in motion and we got out and started to shake it in the PopStarz does 1989 Winter Wonderland complete with fake snow on the ground. Gary indulged my "make a snow angel" request at one point which was nice. Surprise guest Dave C. showed up looking fetch in his suede jacket and we got the sweaty fun dancy McGoodtimes in full gear. Around 12:30 or so Mikey and Matt arrived with Yada's Sis and her boyfriend Deshaune (sp) and we spent the next 40 minutes or so really gettin' down with the PopStarz magik. Unfortunately, my partner in crime (Hot Scott) was pooped and we left the rest of the good time gang and headed towards home around 1:20am or so.
The next morning I got to experience Scott's six different alarms. They started around 6am and continued off and on until I got out of bed around 9am. I'm not sure why they went off... I didn't have anywhere to be until 10am and while Scott had said he needed to be on the road by 8am he was still in bed when I got out of the shower--not that I minded... Once I was set I bid fairwell to Scott and headed to brunch.
Brunch was excellent. Had a tasty omelet (called "Man Meat") that had all kinds of sausage and cheese with bbq sauce and enjoyed the good company of friends and folks I hadn't seen in a while.
From brunch I headed to Kevin and Michael's new home along with Mike and Matt. Kevin and Michael are guys I met through Mikey and they are just super cool. I could really just sit and talk and listen to them for hours and never get tired of it. They are total gaysperts on all the things I dig (tv, movies, theatre, culture etc and so on) so it was a real treat to get to spend some time with them. Rob met us at the house as well and after a little more socializing Rob and I hit the road and headed to the Bizarre Bazaar to do some shopping. Bunch of LJers there including Dave W., Bob and his partner, Dave C, Chris G., Sean and Matty, and the always adorbearble Steve. I tried to buy more for other people than for myself but I kinda failed. I did pick up some gifts though along with a t-shirt for myself and a really excellent piece of art. I'll post a pic of it when I get a chance. I really enjoyed the event and couldn't have asked for a better shopping buddy than Rob.
Click here to see a pic he snapped of me before we went inside.
Rob dropped me off back at my car and I decided to head back to SD instead of staying in LA and going to Disney. The weather was questionable and all my potential parkmates were unable to commit to going. So I figured I'd high tail it back to SD and go to LLBEAR with the boys.
On the way home I get a call from Dave W. and a txt from AA with potential LA type stuff to do but of course I'm past Irvine by then so, well, there you have it. I really need to work on my planning skills better.
And of course, once I got home and flopped on the couch I felt like doing a big ol' salad bowl full of nothing at all. No excuses on this one really. I just totally pussed out and stayed home which I'm not really happy about 'cause I missed out on some fun with people I dig and getting to say goodbye to Hawaii David which I regret. But, well... Sometimes I'm a bump on the side of the bump that sits on that log and I just can't get out of the mindset when throws a smackdown on me.
Sunday I got a lot done around the house but didn't actually leave it. I did hang out with my friend Mike who I'd met when he visited SD a few times before and then again on the big Vegas trip. His partner was at the Chargers game (go Bolts!) so he crashed at my pad and we watched the game and chatted away until it was time for him to pick up the SuperFan.
So yeah, not the weekend I expected. In the honor of Brodie, I fierced it at first but then fierce left the building and I went into Grandma mode. Maybe I'll do better next time.
