The supercool ring*con 07 report ;-)

OH MY GOD...I couldn't write earlier because there's just so much to tell and this will need quite some time. First up: if u wanna see some pics go http://s233.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Simigonewild/ for some of my pics (and no, even though it looks like that: I wasn't ALWAYS drunk..just all 4 nights hehe) and because I didn't photograph any stars you can click here http://fotogalerie.herr-der-ringe-film.de/showgallery.php/cat/6160 for hundreds of pics of that crazy weekend.

The con wasn't as bad as I thought, in fact I actually had a special thing going on with the Pirates of the Carribean people. But I'll tell you later.

This years con was definitely very different and Craig was missed! Also, this year got me so many friends that I always had to go somewhere with someone and somehow this year I've chatted with so many guests/stars like never before. But the best were the people I met. Especially Pia whom I already met friday afternoon and we got along soooo well that we spent the rest of the weekend partying together (she's the one with the dark hair on the pictures in my gallery hehe). We were drunk all 3 nights and we had the most adventurous time (hey, we entertained everyone walking over the "red carpet" at 3am, watched rugby with the kiwis, rocked the bar and dancefloor and ended up in the VIP area without even knowing. Seriously, we took the lift around corner because all the other lifts were packed, and we got in there and left at the 6th floor were the bar is..but there was no bar in this sector and we were like ??? so Dirk, actually the manager of ring*con came to us and was laughing at us because he said "Girls, ya know, once you are in here you can't get out anymore because you need a card to get in and out"..so we had a good time and finally he was so kind to let us into the bar haha). So yes, I met Pia, my best ringcon mate (who made me sleep less than 3 hours a night the entire 4 days), and I met so many more people that made this con so special!!!!

Now, just a few thoughts about the guests (because I could write 100 pages to tell you everything that happened but I won't)

Isaac Singleton Jr. and Clive Ashburn (from POTC): now this never happened to me before: I was sitting in the bar on thursday night, having a cocktail. Then Isaac walks over to our table, shakes hands with me and says "Hi I am Isaac". And I go like "WHAT? ehm , ehm, hi, ehm, cool, nice to meet you". I mean, it was HIM who came to me, not the other way round..wow..now I don't know what it was but we chatted for half an hour and he was very nice and intresting. He told me about LA where he lives, about his work and about our favourite movies blabla..he was really nice...now I believed he wouldn't recognize me the next day. BUT at around 10ish I was hanging around at the mediaeveal market and finally there's someone putting his hands on my shoulder and says "hi how are you simone?" IT WAS ISAAC. He recognized me and so he did the entire weekend and everytime he saw me he would come to me or at least wave at me. Very very strange indeed...and to end this whole thing (now this is really funny): on monday when I left Fulda to get to the motorway I saw this black Audi A6 behind me and knew instantly this was the Ring*Con limousine and when they overtook me at some point it was Kiran Shah AND Isaac in there. Funny.
Clive Ashburn was very nice aswell..he came to ring*con with his wife Jules who's been very sweet aswell. I talked quite a lot with them on friday night and they were very very nice people.

Mark Ferguson: (I did the acting workshop for "experienced actors" which was a special one this year and I had some special things going on, still going on actually, so I'll post that in an extra post later). Mark did a great show even without Craig. Mark called Craig on friday night during his panel (it was saturday 6am in New Zealand that time, poor Craig). So Mark got the micro to his mobile phone and craig was telling us he terribly misses us blabla..very cute..then there was the "Mark and Craig Slashfest" with pics of Craig wearing a purple opossum lederhose..OMG they are sick..haha, I've got some in my gallery. Yeah and many more funny moments with Mark..

Andy Serkis: well he was only there on saturday and I've not seen that much of him because I didn't get his autograph or picture because I've already gotten that in Berlin..the panel was ok, but people asked some strange questions and it got boring at some point.

John Noble: what can I say? Once more the perfect gentleman with a great knowledge of Tolkien and his character Denethor. He is such a charming person and he brought his wife with him and they already arrived on tuesday to spent a quiet holiday in Fulda. Even though he is quite a famous person he is so down-to-earth and lovely that you have to like him.

Jonathan Harding, Jed Brophy, Lori Dungey, Thomas Robbins (forgotten anyone?):
their 2nd or 3rd Ring*Con, still very entertaining, still nice, Jonathan brought his girlfriend with him, Jed put on Lederhosen and danced YMCA etc. You all know them and it's been even greater this year.

Kiran Shah: ooohhhhhh he is not only short, he is TINY TINY. Look at the picture of me and Kiran. He is so cute..a real hobbit..

Daniel Falconer from WETA: man, this guy is hot. He's been telling a lot of intresting things about WETA and also about upcoming projects. Lovely person.

The con itself was, of course, different. But the pirates didn't disturb it as much as I thought. It somehow fitted in quite smooth and I believe the way Isaac and Clive presented themselves was another reason too. But the con wasn't as packed as the years before. I mean, it was nice, no queues for the photosessions or drinks etc. Also some people boykotted the pirates which I found very sad because I felt sorry for Clive and Isaac. Let's take the photosession with them: to sum it up there were about 10 people who wanted their pictures taken with theses guys. Usually there would be 50 people queuing 1 hour before the shoot.
Yes, everything changed a bit and during the closing ceremony even Mark Ferguson said that if there have to be changes made to save ring*con then they have to be made blabla. So even the guests knew about the great discussions of having other fantasy join ring*con.

I didn't do the stunt workshop because it turned out that you have to do the swordfight workshop aswell if you wanna do the stunt workshop. And I saw no point in spending the entire weekend with swordfight just to get into the stund workshop when I can take lessons in scotland whenever I want...

ok, sorry for spamming you all, but this is only a split part of the whole story (hey it was 5 days long)..and I'll talk about the workshop with Mark later...
