A Night of Small Miracles

A small miracle happened in uor house last night, one that probably saved us all from what could have been a disaster.

My sister was up late last night, probably just downloading more music files on the computer. She went and heated water to take a bath before going to sleep (God knows why she likes doing this), but while she was waiting for her hot water, she fell asleep on the couch in her room. Very dangerous, especially if no one else in the house is awake.

Thankfully, Dad woke up about 30 minutes later, went outside of the master bedroom and heard the whistling of the boiling kettle. The kitchen was so hot and a lot of the water in the kettle had already boiled, and Dad was just in time to turn it off.

What woke Dad up?

He said that he heard a knocking on the front door. So, thinking it was Jay and my Ate who had arrived home but were locked out of the door, Dad stood up and went out. But when he opened the door, no one was there! What's even weirder is that it couldn't have been a knock on the neighbor's door; it would have been too far away. In fact, the distance from the front door to the master bedroom is already a bit a-ways, and most times, you won't hear loud knocking from the front door if you're in the master bedroom.

As Dad was about to go back into the master bedroom, that's when he heard the whistling kettle and turned off the fire. But had he not heard the knock, who knows what could have happened? More importantly, who knocked on our door?

A miracle, indeed.
