Monday was very hot - 94° outside and humid.  When we got home from work, I watered the rosebush and plants out back.  When I was stepping inside the house, I noticed a black beetle-like insect that snuck in.  It was moving very fast toward the couch where there is a ton of hiding places for a bug.  I knew that this thing had to be stopped ASAP.  ( Read more... )

I love tarantulas, but I hate outside spiders/bugs that make their way into the house - what you described reminds me of the huuuuuuuge garden spider with the freaky looking ass that hung around outside between the tree and lamp post at my parents house one summer. The thought of that thing making its way inside worried me - in fact, I would do "spider checks" to make sure it was still out there... yes - it was that big and easy to spot hanging out in mid air on its web.
