Is it sad that I'm only now discovering Songs to Wear Pants To?
Rehearsal yesterday was awesome. defy_gravity99, Patricia, and Sam all rule (which I knew), and my play will be very funny. Yay!
Apparently when I saw Sam on the street the other day (leaving the Naked Comedy Showcase), he was on a date, and him knowing random people on the street impressed her. Now they're dating! I am a cock facilitator.
Sam is also in rehearsal for a community theatre production of The Music Man, at a synagogue uptown (where I think I temped for a couple of days). He's playing Harold Hill. At his age. Nice. Going up in May.
Need to find my Christmas ties for Saturday.
Then went to Marie's for a bit. Jason was playing, and at one point I asked for Sondheim, specifically Company, so Jason got Company ready, then announced that we'd be doing Sondheim in Alphabetical Order. 3 people piped up, "Ooh, we're doing Assassins?!" *
...so he got out "Unworthy of Your Love".
Fortunately, Bounce is now called Road Show, so we didn't have to do that till later, by which time people had lost interest (we'd gone through the Fs of Follies and Forum, skipped Gypsy, since we were only doing shows He wrote the music for, and we had only just begun Into the Woods by the time I had to leave).
Went to Hold For the Laughs, which was interesting. Met Seth (who's auditioned for me a couple of times). Met Simona Berman, who's been on my periphery for a while (she might be good to bring in to audition for Ore, or Or). ceebeegee's awesome friend Susan was there (as a representative of HOME for Theater Artists).
Gave out a lot of business cards.
The stand up comics varied widely in quality. One of them was just okay, but was hot, so at least nice to look at (and he bent over at one point, showing off his ass in the jeans). Quite enjoyed Erin Judge. Carolyn Castiglia did scenes from her one-woman show about racism... I just remembered her being a bitch onstage at Susan Rankus' fundraiser.
Dude- it's totally Thursday. Realized on my way home that the reason my unemployment check was late was because Monday was a holiday. Dur.
Today producer meeting, then rehearsal for Kathleen's one-page play (which is still listed as being on Sunday, when it's on Saturday...? I hope?). Then going to the invited dress of Avow.
