Oh man, all the Christmas Carol performances are blending together in my head. So many people came-
jayspec,
mollyx,
nppyinzer,
planga all came Saturday night (they had a plastic bag from someplace that had a huge face printed on it, and it was in the chair next to
planga. When the lights came up, I just saw what looked like a big cut-out of a kid's face. I thought perhaps
mollyx and
jayspec had blown up a huge photo of Benjamin and sat it in the seat so it would be like he was there, too.
Jack really liked the show, notable since he was up for the Christmas Carol directing job too. He really liked a bit that just sort of evolved in performance- in the Old Joe scene, Ashley as Mrs. Dilber was taking a while to get out of the shop, so Cathy and I put in this "wait for her to go then laugh at her" thing, which he said really brought home to him how nasty and backstabbing our characters were.
A bunch of my
backstage photos here.
darksheik and
alexlady made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for breakfast Sunday morning. Mmm, that's a great start to the day.
Sunday was my best show, aside from knocking down one of the flats that made up Old Joe's shop.
We had so many great people in the audience-
actress_in_nyc, a hot man she brought,
carasol,
dry_2olives,
kellygirlnyc, Letham,
walltack,
wonderpanther (who was sick and came anyway!), and Patricia.
Tony was there, too, but he had to leave right after the show. Thought he didn't make it at all, till I got a text message explaining and telling Old Joe to watch out for falling walls.
Went to Court Street afterward and had drinks and food (had one of their signature sandwiches which was a sandwich with roast beef, onions and cheese. All fried and yummy) with
ceebeegee,
darksheik,
actress_in_nyc, her hot man, and Patricia. Pia came and hung out with us for a while- she's fun, I'd like to have her audition for something someday.
Patricia was worried about getting back to the PATH and back to New York, so I walked her there; we went down Court Street most of the way, enjoying the cobblestoneyness.
Busy week- Playwrighting Group tonight, Seeing
alexlady in
Christmas Rappings Tuesday, Mark's birthday party at Marie's Wednesday night, Thursday Cref's Much Ado reading. Friday Dave and José are having a Holiday cocktail party/gift exchange, but I don't think I'm going to make it (though I will get off work early that day).
Just realized I'd planned to review a show on the 22nd- what the hell was I thinking? I'm going to be in Moorestown by then.
