2 carols, some mexican food and a party
First Christmas Carol on Saturday was a little off for me- my brain kept going off on little tangents, and I screwed up a couple of my lines. Still, a good show. Mom and Christopher came out to see it, as did Susan and ceebeegee's brother. All seemed to dig it a lot.
Jenn, darksheik and I were thwarted in our attempt to go to Karma Café- they don't even open till 5pm on weekends. Boooo. The place was dark, but Jenn opened the doors anyway- the waiters were all asleep inside the restaurant. Weird.
So we went across the street to East LA and had Mexican food, which was yummy.
Jenn was very touched that we actually wanted to hang out with her. Apparently since she had the twins and the surgeries, she's been feeling very out of the loop.
Picked up a bottle of Ecco Domani pino grigio (my fave) for Roland's party later - I was going to walk all the way to Sparrow, but then I realized there was a grocery store with bottles of wine right on the corner of 5th and Washington.
Second Christmas Carol was much better for me; hit everything right on. Didn't hurt that Jack and Christine were in the audience laughing at every word that came out of my mouth.
darksheik and I went back to his place, where we met up with alexlady who had just come back from doing her show. Then we all headed over to Roland's place- he lives deep in Hoboken- Jackson street.
Party was nice. Jack and Christine were there, of course. Christine just got given the key to the city, so we were joking about just what they open. Christine thought that I'd said that my brother's wife directed Christmas Carol, and some confusing conversation between her and alexlady was the result.
Bill and Rachel from Art House were also there.
Drank lots of wine & some tasty punch. Judy, Roland's girlfriend, made a bunch of delicious snacky things- all vegetarian. There were some chicken nuggety things that were made of mozzarella and I think sun-dried tomatoes. Mmmm.
Hottie Sean who was in Roland's band from the last Art House Oddities came by with a bottle of wine that his family made. It was pretty tasty.
Took lots of pictures, some of which will appear in this space at a later date. There was also a professional photographer documenting the event- I think she has the same camera setup as jayspec. Good stuff.
darksheik wasn't feeling well, so we were going to leave around 1:30- I was pressed into singing with David (our "Dreamer" from Camino Real). We did "The Joker", which was nice. Roland broke in and was freestyling- the boy's got flow.
Got back to darksheik and alexlady's, where we watched a little of a standup comedian with a dimple. He was funny, but I was nodding off, so we all went to sleep.
I went to pee around 6am, and when I got out of the bathroom Griffin (the cat) was all wanting to rub up on me and play nice. He's usually very reticent. Some nice petting, then when I went back to sleep on the couch he jumped up and sat on me for a bit.
