From the long-neglected

State Trooper - Bruce Springsteen Woo, the fake ipod!* that Tony gave me does indeed work. I was a little disappointed that it only holds 37 songs. I listened to music all the way in to work today- pretty exciting for me. There's no shuffling, it's just all the songs in the order I put them on the disk. So I heard some Rufus Wainright, Girlyman, William Finn**, Meat Puppets, David Bowie (Labyrinth), Brian Eno, Blues Traveler, Doug Supernaw, Collin Raye, Donovan, The Vapors, and The Kings. Noice.
There's some Yazbek and Audra on there, too, but I didn't get that far.
I fear on my way home I'll have to forward through the songs I've already heard to get to new ones- the playlist seems to reset when you turn it off and on.
Last night was fun at Marie's. Now it can be told- Jim Allen fell and fractured his pelvis- he was worried that if word spread, Marie's would assume he wouldn't be back and would fire him, so he led people to believe that this was a continuation of his earlier cyst removal (which caused the notorious vomiting incident) . He's up and around with crutches, and has a little pillow to sit on. He's back to his regular shifts starting immediately.
Parker was there and would spell Jim when he needed to get up to stretch his legs. Sang far too much of Oliver with him, then later some Mary Poppins, including "Sister Suffragette" (which, shockingly, a lot of people knew).
Meredith, John McWhorter, Diana, and a bunch of other folks were there. It was Marty's birthday.
Crazy Bronwen did her "All Of Me", - she usually improvises a little patter between the phrases, but when she said, "I want to talk about Sputnik" I nearly did a Sputnik spit-take. I leaned over to Jim Allen and said, "It's called Sputnik", and he began playing the chords of "Our Time" in the rhythm of "All of Me", underneath her patter. God, it was brilliant.
Sat next to Kyle, who's been there a couple of times. He's a friend of Meredith's. When I first came in he was giving me the fish-eye, but then I realized that's because my fly was open. He works 9-5 with Susan from [title of show]! I am so jelly-ass.
Meredith had just played Apples to Apples for the first time, and we bonded over what a great game it is.
Meredith actually requested that I sing "Mexican Hat Dance"- that's a first.
Met Orion's mother when I got home. I'll see her again when I see Orion in Hamlet tomorrow night. I've dropped out of Ukulele Cabaret for tomorrow, since he said Hamlet is 3 1/2 hours.
Got my limericks ready for tonight's shows:
There once was a harlot from Yale
With her price-list tattooed on her tail
And on her behind,
For the sake of the blind,
She had it embroidered in Braille.

kev_bot spells it ipod! so it's the same upside down. Since this is a fake, maybe it's an ipod? instead. Perhaps.
** "High School Ladies at 5:00 / The Rape of Miss Goldberg by Marvin" - I always forget those songs are one huge track.
