Came up with an idea last night for a one-act called 3-D Sestina, in which 6 characters will sit around and talk about each one's disparate topic, and each character would be a analogous to a line of a Sestina. So a scene for every verse, and every character gets six sentences in each scene. Should be an interesting experiment in form, if nothing else. Planning to keep the characters gender-neutral, so anyone could play them. Now the trick is to sneak in a story between the lines that will gradually reveal itself, a la Songs for a New World.
I've been seeing posters for John from Cincinatti lately, which feature the bottom of a surfboard and a surfer's feet that are hovering above the sand, and sort of glowing. I've been assuming, merely from poster extrapolation, that it's a Jesus-Reborn-as-Surfer pic, perhaps in the vein of Richard Bach's work. I tried singing "Surfin' Christ" to the tune of "Surfin' Bird", which didn't quite work, but "Surfin' Messiah" works nicely to the tune of "Surfin' Safari".
I checked out the site on HBO's web page, and from what I can glean, I was close, though it's a series, not a movie. Probably more in the vein of Carnivale than Richard Bach, but again I don't really know.
Planning to go see Mothergun tonight, the last entry in the MITF Next Step Series. Tony might be coming along. We both get in free, having been in another show in the Series (interestingly, John told me initially that only Me and My Director could get into the other shows for free, but Glory said that anyone involved in the shows can do that. I questioned her about it to make sure).
Got an E-mail from Glory with all the stuff that's in the MITF; a lot of it looks pretty neato. I'm gonna see as much of it as I can.
