but horses don't have knuckles!

so yesterday was great. it was abso-freakin-lootly fantastic =)

i left the house around 8:30ish - decided to grab a few caches along the way before meeting up with dan (the boats' owner) in padanaram at 10:30.
i went after Gallison Woods, Isle of Marsh and Parrothead Cache. (caching total is up to 1715)

i got there a little earlier than everyone else, so i wandered around the village for a bit, took a few shots of the bridge we would be going 'through' and then headed up to marshall marine where the boat was moored.

the boat (below) is a 22' catboat named the 'cybercat'.

dan, myself, dave and dan's dog, jack, went out the first time. we made it in time to snag the bridge opening at 12:00 (it opens every hour on the hour) and headed out for a couple of hours just tooling around in buzzards bay.

heading out of the harbor into the bay

area picture:

the red dot is where the boat was moored, the blue dot is where the bridge is that we went through to get out into the harbor. we sailed out in a big triangle along the area - the grey dot is round hill (very exclusive area) and is near an old radar tower (used in the cold-war era to give the coast an 'early' warning of missiles coming from russia) and got close enough to fort tabor in new bedford (purple dot) for me to take this shot:

after that trip we headed back in to pick up nathy, a very granola-earthy-crunchy kinda kid (he's 21) who's main topic of conversation was how he and a few friends want to start an artists' commune up in new hampshire. more power to ya, kid. dan was a bit on the scatterbrained, side, while dave was very 'know-it-allish' about sailing. they were all fine folks, but not really the kind of group i might hang out with on a regular basis. after we picked up nathy, we headed back out for a wider tour and i took a few more shots:

bad shot of me courtsey of dan

look ma, i'm sailing!

we made it back for the bridge opening at 4 pm, and they dropped me off right at the dock and then went back out just to hang out in the inlet and enjoy the afternoon.

after that i stopped by my aunt bevs' house to say hello and chat for a few, and then it was off to marshfield for lutetia8's bachelorette party. unfortunately, i'm out of time to post for this afternoon and will post about all that on monday. (don't hate me laura! this post was a TON of work!)

birthday, geocaching, real life
