I had a great time today with Judy, Lib, Calvin and Trevor - We headed up to the Blue Hills for a day of hiking and caching Southwest of Boston. I discovered the Blue Hills while looking for new spots to spend the day caching and have loved every trip I've made to the area.
The day started with breakfast at IHop with Jill and Lucy (who didn't join us) and Lib and Judy before we headed off Cape. The ride up was amazingly smooth and we never hit too much traffic making for a swift hour drive up to the pre-arranged parking area. Trevor had gotten there earlier than expected and was doing a bit of caching, even though it sounded like he was having a tough time at it :p - He had almost DNFd a cache that I had found a 'mere' two years ago - I guess I wasn't the best phone-a-friend for that one (never fear, he ended up finding it ok ).
Everyone finally met up at the Chickatawbut Overlook and after cookies were presented, glasses were remembered and backpacks were rearranged, we were off! I didn't remember to reset my odometer until just after the first cache, but I don't think we had walked farther than 3 tenths of a mile. All in all we did about 5 miles and 8 caches. Trevor left a bit early and only joined us for 7 of those.
The distances between caches wasn't terribly lengthy and not too short and we had a couple of real nice views while along the trail. Had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. All in all a very rewarding experience.
It was a fantastic way to start the day!
