I have been removing and replacing things that I installed into my life which have been costly of time and energy. While not entirely unrewarding (they were rewarding in the past, but are less so now), are not feeding the ways in which I most want to grow. This is a long list of 'life makeover' items for me, including choosing to quit my work and retrain for something new, leaving my remote house and prepare it for sale, and finding a partner-oriented shared housing closer to friends and activities. These steps have changed my world and improved it. It's a matter of changing where I spend my time and energy

Asimov wrote a great novel about this. The End of Eternity is about a Technician who travels in time, seeking to effect the Minimum Necessary Change (MNC) that will produce the Maximum Desired Effect (MDE). He takes great pride in minimizing his MNC to the point where it can't even be identified by all but the most dedicated researchers. (In one instance he just moves a pen.)
So, first I'm recommending you consider finding a used copy of the book at your local used bookstore. Then I'm recommending you look for those little MNC events you can do to effect your own MDE.
