You guys, if you're not watching Warehouse 13, you should be. Because it's really just about everything that most of us keep saying we want.

Genre show with fun plots and geektastic historical and fannish references? Check. Ensemble of interesting and well-developed characters? Check. Women characters with personalities and agency and plotlines of their own? Check, check, check. Canonically queer characters? Two of 'em, one now in the main cast and one recurring. Characters of color in a variety of roles? Check--two recurring characters (although I haven't seen as much of either as I'd like, lately) and a decent number of guest stars.

I'm not going to claim the show is perfect. I still find the two leads less interesting than the rest of the ensemble. It would be nice to see some people of color in the main cast. Occasionally, there is fail.

Nevertheless, with this new season W13 has become my favorite currently airing show. I'd like to see more people watching, partly because a fandom would be nice, partly because, as I said, this is the show that's giving us what we keep saying we want, and we ought to support it and let the SyFy channel know that we'd like to see more of this kind of program. SyFy is taking some risks with this (especially including Actual Queer Characters) and I'd love to see those risks pay off in more viewers.

So I encourage you to give it a try. The first few episodes are not the best, but things pick up (especially after the introduction of an additional character a few eps in) and so far the show has just gotten better and better.
