This summer, as always, my kid's nose was stuck in one book or another.  These are the ones the 11 year old really enjoyed:

1. N.D. Wilson, The Dragon's Tooth
2. Matt Myklusch, The Accidental Hero, The Secret War, The End of Infinity.
3. Roger Zelazny, The Chronicles of Amber (he is still enjoying this one, it does have 10 books)

My 10 year old found a new series of books he likes.  He loved the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, and Harry Potter, and the Secret Benedict Society.  See the pattern.  Well, to follow with yet another unfortunate orphaned and misarable little boy comes Measle, from Measle and the Wrathmonk by Ian Ogilvy.

I love Raymond Feist.  His fantasy books are many.  What is great about them is that every few books (usually 3 or 4) the story comes to a conclusion, however when you pick up the next series, the story begins in the same world, sometimes having some of the old characters from the previous series.  It is really wonderful to have that kind of combo ( Read more... )

This was a good read.  At times it was difficult.  I have a hard time reading books where I cannot sympathize with the main character. Same thing goes for movies.  At some points in this book I just couldn't understand Amir or his actions, but other than those parts, it was good.  Definately worth 50 cents at a library sale.
