Chapter 4

Oh, the torture! The agonizing, unbearable torture!

It was like hell living with that orange monstrosity.

Whereas Arthur is daddy’s little princess, Eames is mama’s darling boy. In fact, not a moment went by that Eames doesn’t rub it in Yusuf’s face.

For example, the cat would prance about the place to pointedly smooth out his scarf covered chest as if to brag about his status. Yusuf wouldn’t have cared if not for the fact that that certain purple, paisley, silk scarf was his gift to Ariadne on her last birthday.

Apparently, it doesn’t mean much if she’s willing to turn it into a collar for the evil fur ball; she even stitched a nameplate on it!

Yusuf is not rankled at all…

Not only that, before, Yusuf and Ariadne would always have the privilege of waking up to the sweet sniffling and light pawing on their faces from Arthur. Nowadays, however, an ugly screeching yowl would jerk them awake as if the apocalypse is happening and they should wake up now!

This, of course, is the work of Eames.

It wasn’t even a wake up call; it was some sort of horrible serenade that Eames yowls at Arthur with, who usually found a place high up to hiss down at the leering and besotted cat.

Instead of being crossed, Ariadne merely coos in adoration at the overweight thing and instead chides at his princess, “Arthur! Stop being so mean to Eames. Can’t you see that he just wants to be your friend?”

At this point, she would turn to chuck at the purring cat at her feet, “Aren’t you now, my little darling?”

If Arthur is a human, he would’ve rolled his eyes. Instead, he sniffed daintily and turns away, as if the mere thought offends him.

That’s Yusuf’s little princess.

In fact, he’s quietly gagging in the background right now at the sight.

::::

Just as he feared, Eames has become a menace trying to “woo” Arthur, as Ariadne would say, to be his friend.

But he knows the truth, as a father would to any trespassers stepping on his turf. That creature from the darkest corner of the moon is trying to steal his princess’s virtue!

He had lost count on just how many times Eames had pounced on his baby.

Arthur is a BAMF, of course, so he doesn’t need Yusuf’s help much, but Arthur can’t be alert all the time.

It’s a fact that Eames also knows, unfortunately.

Being the bulky thing that he is, Eames is much bigger than Arthur in weight and in size. So instead of stopping like the first time they met, Eames would bulldozer Arthur onto his back so that he can force himself on top of Arthur.

Arthur, the poor damsel in distress, would claw at the tabby’s head and kick his stomach in fury but to no avail.

Yusuf is pretty sure that the only reason that Eames could stand that amount of pain is only because of his extra amount of fat.

Eames simply ignored Arthur’s clawing and proceeded to lick at Arthur’s maw in a parody of a French kiss.

A most horrible experience if Arthur’s reactions are anything to go by.

The first time Yusuf saw this, it happened in the middle of his bed.

He was rightly horrified, of course. So it was only natural that a loud, angry screech came out of his mouth, which caused Ariadne to come running in with a baseball bat.

“What? What’s happening?”

Ariadne had turned to Yusuf for an answer only to pause at the sight on their bed. She rolled her eyes in exasperation and gave Yusuf’s bum a hard smack with the bat.

He yelped at the assault, “What was that for, sweetheart?”

Ariadne had scowled at him as if it’s his fault, “Damn it, Yusuf! I thought that a burglar came in or something! And what did I see instead of a burglar? Nothing but the cats and you screaming!”

Yusuf mouthed silently at Ariadne, speechless. He turned to the cats only to see that Eames completely ignored them and was still attempting to force himself on an unwilling Arthur.

He pointed angrily to the sight in front of them as if to make a point.

Ariadne gave his bum another smack, “That’s what you were yelling about? What in the world, Yusuf? They’re being cute. You don’t have to go around making a spectacle out of it.”

She went to the bed and pulled Eames off by the scruff of his neck. As soon as he was freed, Arthur quickly scrambled into Yusuf’s arms for safety while Eames sulks next to Ariadne on the bed.

Ariadne tossed the bat to the foot of the bed and put her hands on her hips, “There. Are you happy, now?”

Without waiting for an answer, she went back outside to check on her soup still on the stove.

Yusuf grumbled into Arthur’s coat, hurt. Turning to Eames, he made a gesture with his fingers to signify a “I’m watching you.”

Eames, of course, groomed his paw.

The bastard.

Yusuf is the type of guy that needs his girlfriend’s help if he ever got into a fight. So of course, it only makes sense that Ariadne wears the pant in this family.
