The Story of Miki - part 2

Yesterday, I showed a picture of Dagger Wren wearing the dress that Miki came with. My parents were raising 8 children at that time, so it should come as no surprise that we (my baby sister rec'd Miki's "sister" doll, Kimi) did not get, nor did we expect to get any of the clothes for the dolls that were commercially available. So, I made outfits for them, mostly using the patterns from The Doll Book, but not all.

[Miki fashions]I suspect that this is the oldest surviving outfit that I made for Miki. It's based on a science fiction apocalypse dream I had while in high school. I remembered enough details of the uniforms worn in the dream to recreate them - not only for Miki but also for my trio of Penny Bright dolls. This would have been before the bed accident, as the dress no longer fits Miki (which is why one of the Mattel toddler dolls is wearing it).

But I made other dresses for her, ones that still fit her, like these two child outfits. There had been a third, a purple and white one, but I sent that to my sister Mary.

And since I didn't want her to always look like a small child, I made some "more mature" outfits as well.

But my main interest in clothing Miki was imagination and play. This is one of my favorite outfits for her, inspired by quest-type tales, hobbits and the like. Notice that while she is carrying a small purse, she is also prepared for hostilities as well.

And... I really liked the Red Sonja comic book series, so here's Miki in her "armour". As far as I can remember, I always made her left handed.
