A process labeled ccvchst.exe has been eating up massive processing memory on my laptop lately - two such open, one consuming 10,000+ k of memory and the second - waaaay down the list - taking up 200,000+ k! I googled the process, found that it was associated with Norton Security - involved in anti-phishing - and that some recommend disabling the process while others suggest scrapping Norton entirely.
Instead, I ran a complete security scan (Norton) after which I ran a programme called CCleaner, setting it to "fix issues". ccvchst.exe is still present in the Windows Task list twice, but one process is using 4,000k of memory and the other (down on the list) 8,000k.
IMHO, that's a definite improvement.
