Rant - dogs, fleas, and ticks of fandom

I don't know who T......M..... is or what kind of fan-author s/he might be, but judging from the friends/ fans this person has, I'm just as glad to not have the acquaintance of them. There's an old saying I have heard, "Lie down with dogs, rise up with fleas" and that ... doesn't really do justice to this situation. ( Read more... )

indignation, rant, anger

I really hate this sort of thing and you can be sure they never read the post as it is written, they just read what they think is there and then set about basically bullying people.

If the threats are physical and inciting people to harm your friend, then you really need to report this to Livejournal so they can take action against those posting threats.

But if its just verbal it is best ignored or if they are really pissing you off, call in the troops yourself and get some help, sometimes a united front helps, sometimes it doesn't.

What gets me is they are the sort of people who claim they aren’t bullies, they are peaceful, look at all the other bad people in the world, while failing to notice that they are in truth just nasty little buggers. Tapping the claret would be a satisfying option at times.

what really worries me is that this girl is already a bit fragile emotionally - she's 15 and that's a really challenging time anyway plus she's ... a person I typify as "one of us" - intelligent, sensitive, introverted, shy, unsure and out of step with the rest of society. If they drive her to do something extreme ... I would pray nine times nine that they would reap the results of their karma in this life and the next - regardless of the damage it would do to my own soul.

"tapping the claret"? Is that like a snifter of cognac?

I rather think that "tapping the claret" is a Regency phrase meaning to give someone a nose-bleed with one's fist. (That troll makes my own adrenaline glands itch - I want to start by calling it a congenical psychopathic inferior and go on from there... )

Oddly enough, this was referenced on the show I just finished watching. Murder City, the young DS was showing off a blood splatter and said something like "Check out the claret." And thanks to you and LondonBard, I knew what he meant.

Thank you for the explanation.
