Dialann - the year is turning to the north

There was a threat of frost this morning, so I brought it some of my plants last night. To me, this is a signal that I need to reorganize. See, when my elder son came to visit in June, I moved the hydrogarden downstairs to the kitchen table - and then left it there. I sort of expected it to be defunct by September, but the tomato plant and water cress are still going strong.

Said tomato plant is a miniature plant with teeny-tiny tomatoes - about the size of grapes. So, at some point, I took a couple of the ripe tomatoes and squirted seeds into a couple of other pots - I expected failure because ... well, brown thumb isn't a joke - not really. To my surprised, both sprouted, both grew; but one grew faster and that one is flowering now. The other I'm thinking of transplanting into a smaller, lighter pot because it has occurred to me that everything I plant in the lovely glazed ceramic pot it's in ... does not thrive. Plus it's big and heavy.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the coffee tree -no, not transplant shock. Not yet anyway. Jealousy. It doesn't want to share the window with the potted tomato and keeps putting branches and big leaves over top it of it to block the sun. We'll get it figured out, I'm sure. Most likely, I'll move the two-level end table the tree is on around to get it further from the window ... which means I'll lose the place where my netbook is set right now. It'll be under the window ledge, out of reach and out of usefulness - for computing purposes.
