More obsessive behaviour

The main motive reason I wanted to make doll clothes for an 18 inch American Girl(tm) type doll is because one of my best friends (12 yo) has two. Or so I'd been told. Now it turns out, that's not exactly so.

This is a picture of the two in question, Alex (dark) and Hanna (fair).

From the picture, it appears that Hanna has some Elf in her family line. In practical terms, it means that clothes designed specifically for Hanna need to be made with the "Slender" patterns of the 12 Dancing Princesses book.

Another practicality involves shoes. In this picture, it's clear that Hanna's feet are long and slender.

Those sandals look like small boats on her! (I'm suddenly hearing the song Clementine in my head). As soon as I saw this picture, I knew that none of the dress shoes at Dragonflies will fit her.

Hopefully, these will.

These are gilly shoes; dancing shoes for Scottish and Irish dancing. I have a full-size pair myself. The strings cross behind the ankle, then in front, then behind again before being tied in front. They can also be criss-crossed up the leg, but ... when dancing the strings always fall down to the ankle anyway. :: shrug ::

It is important that one NOT pull the ties tightly through the holes - in either the full-sized (giant) shoes or these small ones. To my grief, the eyelets in one pair of my shoes are tearing through. (and it would cost in excess of $200 to replace them!)

All in all, I am VERY pleased with they way these shoes came out and I very much hope that they fit Hanna.
