On Black Friday last year, I bought some ELF products and had it shipped to my sister's place in Las Vegas since I was heading over in December for a month. There was a 50% sitewide sale and I bought some stuff including this Maximum Coverage Concealer. It retails for US$6 but with the 50%, US$3 for a 20ml tube seems pretty valued for money especially since I have heard quite some good reviews about the product.
*to save luggage space, I took these pictures in Las Vegas and tossed the packaging out.
Their studio line seems pretty similar to NARS and this looks really similar to their tinted moisturizers huh?
Fortunately the material of the packaging is not similar to NARS. Instead it is plastic that will not turn tacky and sticky after time, especially in our humid climate.
I bought the shade 'Sand' and it seems to work pretty well on my NC20-25 skin tone.
So how do I like the product? Well, for US$3, I do find it a pretty decent concealer. ELF is always having some sorta discount code so I do not believe in paying full price as the discount code comes in pretty often so do wait for a sale and stock up the products.
I probably will not want to pay US$6 for it because though it honestly has an excellent coverage but it did not last as long as I've anticipated it to be and it is not hydrating for the under-eye area.
I put on my makeup at about 6.30am and if I am wearing a sheer foundation / bb cream, I will have to conceal a little especially on days where I have some sorta acne spots and I noticed by 2pm or so, the redness of the spots will start to peek. Well, for 7 1/2 hours, I would have to say it is pretty decent but I still very much prefer a much longer wearing concealer especially I do not have a habit of touching up in the day unless I am heading out after work.
And because my under-eye area is hideous, I have to use a concealer almost every single day I put on makeup. This concealer conceals extremely well. I look extremely fresh when I wear this concealer but by mid-day or 6 hours later, I do find that the concealer is caking up on my under-eye area that fine lines starts appearing from the dry texture of the product.
Well, this concealer is probably isn't formulated to hydrate the under-eye area while it conceals and you probably can't have the best of both worlds.
It is an excellent coverage concealer but you will have to touch up in 6-7 hours or so if you are going to wear it for a long day and it is way too dry for the under-eye area. You will love it if you are not wearing over 7 hours. You will also love it for photoshoots if you need a heavy duty concealer.
This is my personal opinion and since everyone's skin type and living weather climate is different, it might work differently on your skin but do share your personal opinion on this product if you have tried it!
