Murad Clarifying Cleanser with 1.5% Salicylic Acid for Acne Treatment

I have always been intrigued by Murad but the price tag is always the deterring factor as it is rather pricey. 1 product that I have been wanting to try is the Clarifying Cleanser that is said to fight acne.

For a 6.75oz product, it retails for US$26, in which, in Singapore, it retails for over S$40.

Not knowing how the product will work for my skin, I found a deluxe sample of the product through a blogsale for a really affordable price and I am glad I did!

As described by Murad: Clarifying Cleanser's rich lather strips away pore-clogging grime, oil, and irritants, while encapsulated salicylic acid provides a sustained release of medication for hours of acne treatment, even after rinsing. A bestselling Murad product for nearly 20 years, this cleanser is recommended as the first step in any Murad acne routine. Clarifying Cleanser is formulated to improve skin’s health as part of Dr. Murad’s Inclusive Health® system of care.

It is also said to be formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

Developed by dermatologists and free from animal testing, Clarifying Cleanser is clinically proven to reduce 99.9 percent of irritating surface bacteria and inhibit blemish formation with the powerful antibacterial protection of silver citrate.

I am glad I did not pay for the full retail product because I can't use this product on a daily basis but only when I am suffering from breakouts because this cleanser is very drying. It lathers up pretty well and leaves an icy cool sensation after rinsing the product off your face but as soon as I towel dry my face, I can almost feel that my face is gonna crack. I personally have oily skin and to experience this drying and tight feeling, I cannot imagine those who have dry to combination skin.

Even if I am trying to fight my breakout, I can't use it consecutively for 3-4 days or my face will start flaking from the dryness. I alternate this cleanser with a normal facial cleanser so help balance the oils on my face but still fight those nasty breakouts.

Not sure if it is just this cleanser that is so drying but it has sorta deterred me from trying the rest of the products in the clarifying range.
