It's the Season

Summertime. Even though it's not the 21st yet, meteorologically, it's summer. That means it will get really warm, humid, and the winds will blow alot of the plain's soil up into the air as farmer's start planting. That turns the sky's hazy and builds heat for the dawg-days of July & August. I never liked summer, it was always too hot. As a human, I don't enjoy breathing water into my lungs via humidity. Although, during winter, it's nice to have humidity, so your skin doesn't dry & flake away for lack of moisture. I guess that's why modern technology created both the adding & subtracting of moist air via humidifiers.

I certainly love the AC. I couldn't sleep well without it, especially when it's hot & sticky outside. I take my hat off to prior generations that didn't have this creature comfort. And to those current era people in the same boat, my sympathies.

With summer, comes the assault on our senses by Hollywood. Mind you, I love a good flick, and plan to see a few blockbusters. Hollywood tried to jump-start early this year with Green Hornet. Not interested, the lead actor is annoying to me so no go. Going back a little further, there was Battle LA. Loved it. Despite being couched behind a sci-fi theme, it was a good, old-fashioned war movie with probably every cliche attached there to.

I'm not a horror fan so all those movies I just bypass. Nor do I care for Leo DiCaprio so I'd rather wait and rent Insidious. That way if I'm really annoyed, I can turn it off. I thought about Source Code & Rango, but have to watch the pennies now that I'm unemployed. Thor, I wasn't sure I wanted to see. A friend recommended it to me but I still haven't gone. Pirates - I was disappointed in the 3rd movie and this one hasn't garnered much attention from the critics, not that I listen to them either. Usually what they like, I'll hate. I'll probably see it this weekend now that X-Men has arrived. All the kiddies will be in that movie so a pleasant experience will be had by most.

I do intend to see X-Men: First Class since it's suppose to set the background for Xavier and Magneto. I never read the comic books so my only intro to these characters has been the movies. I'll miss seeing two great actors on the screen: Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen. After that comes Super 8, which looks incredible; actually a family flick. One of the top bills for me is Green Lantern. A friend's son worked as AD for the 2nd unit director so we got to hear about the behind the scenes glitches to making such a huge movie.

Cars 2, meh, I didn't see the first one. I love Pixar but too much exposure in my youth to NASCAR ruined it for me. I'm hoping Transformers 3 will redeem the series after a boring repetitive bummer that # 2 inflicted on me. The most anticipated movie for me is Harry Potter, DH # 2. I've started re-reading the book just to be ready for the film. It's sad knowing this is the last movie. I hope eventually JK Rowling will give us further adventures of Harry, Hermione and Ron as adults. I know they say "all good things must come to an end", but really? There's a built in audience of kids and adults who read these books and saw the films together who will want to share with their kids. It's a cash cow!

Captain America, Cowboys & Aliens, Rise of Planet of the Apes, and Conan all have an appeal for me, but they'll probably have to wait. Everything depends on finding a job I can afford. Just having a job isn't enough, I have cover my bills and hopefully, like the work. It's a guessing game in the end. Who knows, I may have to swallow my pride and go back to customer service. Ugh!
