My first visit to the cyber cafe

Jan 27, 2006 18:27

I have 15 minutes left on the timer here at the cyber cafe near the centre boabab. I think that once I get used to this whole French keyboard thing I'll never be able to use an American one again. I should get home to my host family soon. I can't tell if they care when I come home or not. They don't seem to pay much attention to me. That and they speak Wolof all the time so I always feel kind of left out.

There's so much to say about everything that's different here. The plce is crazy with people driving on whichever side of the street is clear. You have to barter for almost everything, including taxi rides, and wherever you go taxi's honk at you to see if you want to be picked up and children and vendors swamp you. It's all going to take some getting used to.

But in general, things are good. People are nice. I'm finding my way around. I'm learning Wolof. (Man, waa Amerik laa). Write me please. I miss everyone from home.
