So now I'm alone in Dakar...

The last of the other students in my program were transfered to their internship sites yesterday. That leaves me as the only one, out of 16, who chose to stay in the city. I'm not sure why, but everyone seemed pretty eager to get away. I kind of like Dakar though, despite the fact that staying here is hasardous to my respiratory health.

My internship is not as exciting as some of them seem to be. I'm not driving around the country side on a motorcycle dispensing vaccines, but I am working for the foremost human rights organization in West Africa, RADDHO. They got me started on researching for the upcoming elections and I've been rewriting an activity report that someone translated into horribly clunky English. It's very relaxed, I take a 2 hour lunch break and I still get accused of working too hard.

The main problem I have now is that, with all the Americans gone, I have no one to go out with this weekend. I can't go hang out in the telecentre but it's been closed for the past three weeks (what have you been doing Zueme?) All the guys who have offered to take me out seem pretty creepy. Oh well, there's always my family's supply of Wolof films.
