Well, I am not a prolific creator of items, be it costumes, scrolls, embroideries or whatever. Mostly it seems I tend to create large items, things that take awhile to work on, and I've a family to tend to first so I can't devote more than a few hours a day to work on anything, if computer time doesn't suck me into its black hole depths.
This is why I will be devoting more specific time to my creative endeavors in 2012, and working on smaller items.
But why not look back and see what I did accomplish, even if some of it is yet to be shared on this blog for various reasons.
First up to be finished in 2011 was the
blackwork embroidery partlet (finally!), which I entered into Caid's Pentathalon and was bumped from Apprentice to win first place in Journeyman rank. It took me over two years to finish this, so yeah, good example of long term item here.
Next for the large projects seems to be the whole
MAAS Embroideress complete outfit, which included a red damask cotton kirtle and sleeves, and black cashmere/wool gown with red silk trim. I also redid my old Italian bonnet to remove the bling, borrowed a wonderful ruff from the master ruffmaker Noel G., and wore my husband's old blackworked shirt. I don't think I posted a full photo of myself here, so I have this one to share with you all. I will post the series of photos on it later, when my web site is useable for uploading again (will tackle that in the new year).

At the event wearing the whole thing. I'm sewing the back end of the blackworked partlet, and have my silk & goldwork embroidery in front of me. Photo courtesy of

A simple item was a
long striped cord, which I finished and haven't used except to cut off a piece for Relle to wear. I've also got another red with white dot cord that is almost done and may finish tonight. It will be used to lace up the red damask kirtle.
I did make a quickie Halloween costume for my son, a red Zelda outfit, which was a simple t-tunic & hat. No photos here.
A little shibori hanky was done in a few hours of work at West Kingdom's Collegium. I've plans for more shibori, and just bought some fabric for it - just not sure if I want a kimono garment or what shape it will end up.
The secret project is technically not done yet, but will be tonight if I can manage it. Will post on this later.
And the biggest time project of my year is still not done, and that is the
heraldic embroidery project, which is the book cover re-creation that will become a casket top. It is sorta close to finished, and I'll be focused on that in January to finish for an event in early February.
I've also a scroll that is about halfway done, but no posts on it yet. And I did up some photos to share on my web site, mostly French hoods, but again, problems uploading so they have to wait a bit.
I am finding as I'm going through my archives some ideas I had forgotten about. Like the
fabric stash challenge I thought of. I think I will combine that with my
planned small items idea for 2012 and see what happens. More on this in a bit.
