Largess ideas, and future plans.

Last night was our monthly baronial meeting. It was a good meeting, as most are. Quick, efficient, and had lots of folks including a few that are new or rarely attend these meetings.

I now have a few more ideas on largess gift items I can make for our Baroness, although I'm at a loss on what to make that reflects my sewing skills. Embroidery can be seen in needle cases, pin cushions, book covers, small box tops, etc. Make soap, no problem. Sachets, really simple but nice to smell (and keeps moths away). Marmalade I've got lots of Splenda made stuff already (and will make more in the spring since we don't eat all our oranges). I'll even try my hand at thank you cards with my scribal skills. But what can one sew that by itself is enough? I've been told veils would be appreciated, but I don't wear them, so I am not sure what would be best - and another member in our barony is very good with making veils. I bought one of hers at an auction. Anyone have suggestions for a sewn item for largess/gifts?

Also at last night's meeting, our Baroness mentioned that the next Festival of the Rose Arts & Science event, will also be a tourney, and as well, a competition for Queen's A&S Champion. Her Majesty would like competitors to bring one item, their best item, for the competition - with full documentation. Our Baroness wants to attend as well for the Old Timers Tourney, as do other long-time members of our Barony. Wow, this is what it takes for our fighting barony to attend an A&S event? Hey, if it means not traveling alone to this event, that's great. And yes, I plan on going. I couldn't make it last spring as I can't do more than one long trip event in a month, especially not alone. I later found out a couple did go, but that was after. But this time, it is in February, there is no other long distance major event I had planned on going to that month, and it isn't too far south. And hopefully there will be some of us from our Barony so we can carpool and share gas expenses.

As to what I plan to enter? My current heraldic embroidery, if I can finish it in time, with documentation. No idea if it is good enough, but I won't know if I don't try. This will mean focusing at least an hour a day on this, or more if I can. This is more than just the embroidery, it is meant to be a box. We shall see.

Currently on that project, I just finished the passing thread on most of Quarter 1, mostly leaves, green berries, and the pansy being the latest done. Need to add in the seed pods for this area before I move onto the last quarter. The Jap gold will be added after I get the center done, as the floating ends just seem to get in the way so trying to minimize damage. I also need to do that middle piece soon or at least get it prepped.

And I still have other things I need to do & start, including home stuff, holiday & 12th Night gifts. Oye.
