It's Over!!! At Least For Now . . .

Yes. It's true. Anime Banzai is over. It was a huge success. We ended up surpassing our goal of 1000 attendees. Go us!! We all worked really hard and I think it went pretty well. There seemed to be only a few mistakes and most were taken care of. Now we start on next year . . . Don't we at least get a little break?!

Hopefully next year we can get more volunteers so that we aren't all streched too thin. There was no . . .

Ah shit!! *cries* I just splashed some Rockstar in my eye!! That hurts like a mother!!

Okay, as I was saying. There was no way we could have done a third day. I thought my legs were going to fall off when things were finally done on Saturday. It didn't help that the freakin' elevator was broken. Yeah. Broken. What the hell!?!?!? The lady who was in charge of the building was peeved. She called the people up and got indignant with them. "We're having at least 1000 people show up this weekend for an event!! What do you mean it won't be fixed until Monday?" It didn't help though. At least she tried. You rock, Cheryl!

I have to admit that I was quite pleased with the college during the event. We had police officers during the entire thing which was great. Kept most people in line. Except for the kid that was arrested for biting someone. Yes, you read right. Someone was arrested for BITING. Freakin' moron. I have no pity for him. I'm actually glad he was dealt with so harshly. He served as an example for the other con goers. The photography lab was awesome too cause they let us borrow their display panels for the art show.

Our Guests of Honor were way awesome as well. Spike Spencer, who voiced Shinji in Evangelion, was brilliant. He said he had a great time and it seemed like he would be willing to come next year. He also gave us some awesome feedback to help us improve even more for following years. For all of you interested, here is his website.

We also had Amy Reeder Hadley, the artist and author of Fool's Gold. She is so freaking cute and sweet!! I have a bit of a girl-crush on her. She sold all of the books she brought which thrilled me. I got a copy from her at NDK a couple weeks ago. She judged my Iron Fanart contests as well as the Art and Model Show. She even did a couple of original illustrations for prizes in the Art and Model Show. She actually bought the piece that she chose as the winner! So awesome! Since I did it for Spike, I'll do it for Amy. Here is her website and there is a link to her livejournal which she has images of the pictures she did for the Art and Model Show prizes! *whisper* I also added her to my friends list . . . hehehehe

I do have to give a special shoutout (or would that be typeout?) to saruhime for helping me out ALL day Saturday in the Art and Model Show. Thank you sexy lady!! You were so awesome!!

It was awesome to see oddone dressed in his Pikachu costume. He really rocked it! I just wish I could have been there when he scared some children when he yelled that he was "a gigantic, yellow, electric sex god." I'm sad I missed it . . . I'll make up the whole Pikachu thing by getting you mouse ears with 'Potato' on them when I go to Disneyland next week!

Holy crap . . . so many people did so much work . . . Ty-chou had our Artist's Alley and Dealer's Room looking awesome and Jurie got Black Rose to sponsor National Qualifying Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic card tournaments. Not to mention getting Game Crazy to sponsor the Super Smash Bros. Tourney. Not to mention some freaking awesome prizes for them.

mnpchan did awesome at security and his panels. The one he did about surviving a Zombie attack with mcsnapdragon had to be moved to a different area because the room it was in ended up being too small! He was also awesome in the Real Life Shinobi panel. It was supposed to only be a 1/2 hour, but he had so much info and he is such, as he puts it, "a chatty bitch" that it ended up being an hour.

mcsnapdragon ran our fanfic contest and also saved our butts several times in the viewing rooms along with Eric. My Mommy and Teffie were awesome up at registration and worked so hard. We really wore my mom out. She ended up taking Monday off from work to sleep . . . poor mama . . .

nefie was our guest liaison and did an awesome job. She ran everywhere just to make sure Spike and Amy had everything they needed. I don't think I could have done it. Of course I'm not nearly as good with people as she is. iceysolstice was in charge of all our volunteers, which I took advantage of especially in the Art Show when I had to run around the con. She always seemed to have someone on hand when we needed help in a pinch.

fluffyferret ran the cosplay. He let me be the MC!! Totally awesome! I looooooooooooooooooved the attention. The cosplay contest was so full, it was great! There were a lot of great costumes and everyone had a great time. We even had Ichidan Cosplay as guests and they did a great Full Metal Alchemist skit. There are even pictures of Anime Banzai on their website!

Of course, the biggest credit has to go to mikasaigo for running the WHOLE damn thing. She did a phenomenal job and everything was fabulous. I'm soooooooooooo proud of you, Puddin'!!!

Now it's back to work and back to the ordinary life. Of course we are already planning for next year . . . because we are gluttons for punishment. If I say I'm taking on more than one committee next year . . . shoot me. Please, for the love of God and all that is holy, shoot me. I'm sure I can count on oddone to rise to the task on that one.

With Banzai over, what am I going to do?

I'm going to Disneyland, baby. Disneyland.
