Feeling physically yucky today-I have for the past three days actually, but not bad enough to justify not coming into work. I don't want to take sick time if I can avoid it, because I might need all I have if I end up taking FMLA in the next couple months.

I shall be happy to answer that question! (drum roll)

"AWANA" stands for "A Workman Approved Not Ashamed"...a Bible club formed for children back in the 1950's that over the years has evolved to include classes from 3 years old (Cubbies) all the way up to high school (Journey 24-7). I teach junior high (Trek). I believe the classes in between are "Sparks" and then "Truth and Training". They used to have these cutesy names that I'm very glad they dispensed with.
The night is divided into 3 half-hour sections: game time (in the case of my junior-highers, sit around and shoot the breeze); "council time", which is the lesson itself; and the last half hour is for discussion, verse memorization, and whatever wrapup is needed. In my case, just trying to get them to settle down and listen to me is a challenge. But I love them to death and they're the brightest spot in my week. No matter how hard a day I've had, they are always happy and full of energy and they pick me right up.
And if I ever get the chance to teach you, I shall do it with the chocolate of your choice. ((hugs))
