Powerful Sunday

Wow, today was awesome! It's been a REALLY powerful month since I got baptized, and things have just been getting better and better! We had at least 5 people get saved today, and another baptism is scheduled for the end of the month.

Pastor Gerard Keehan from Sunset Coast Christian Life Center spoke at JLH today, and it was an awesome day! I think that it's great to have guests preaching at church because it gives us a look at who we have working with us in the effort to bring the entire world to know Jesus. The message he gave in the first two services was very important, and it was about getting an attitude make-over. I've noticed that I have been writing a lot of my blogs off of the messages in church, but it's because they ARE so good and something that I want to share with others! And, please, share this blog with your friends!

One thing that I really liked in this message was the story of the vulgar parrot. No matter how hard Mary tried to control the parrot and keep him from saying vulgar and rude things, she couldn't control him. Finally, she'd had enough, and put it into the freezer. For a minute, there was a lot of squawking and noise, but then silence. She thought she might have hurt the parrot, and so she opened the door. Calmly, the bird apologized, then said "I'm sorry, but if you don't mind me asking, what on Earth did the chicken do?" Apparently, seeing the chicken in the freezer, he realized that if he didn't change his attitude, he could end up frozen just like that chicken. (By the way, the laughter in the first service was loud, but apparently not many people got the joke in the second service. Hmmm...)

A few other points really hit home for me because I've had a problem at times with my attitude about life. Thought is the sculptor who can create who you want to be. If you allow yourself to show a bad attitude, you give off that you are mad at everyone. Our attitude about life determines life's attitude about us. Sooner or later, those who win are the ones who THINK that they CAN! If your attitude is making you miserable, CHANGE IT!

In Ephesians 4:22-24 (Message Translation) it says "Everything -- and I do mean everything -- connected with your old life has to go. It's rotten through and through. Get rid of it! and then take on an entirely new way of life -- a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces His character in you."

Since I've become Christian, I've felt like I really have abandoned a lot of the old ways and have come to have a REAL relationship with Jesus. Ever since I was little, I THOUGHT I had a relationship with Him, but my attitude has totally changed and I've come to know how much I was missing before! Now to get my husband (sadly, not Christian... yet!) onboard! Pray for me while I work my tail off!
