I've been super busy lately, because Shannon and I have been rearranging the upstairs rooms of our house. We decided to move my office to a different location to give me more privacy (the old office had a door that basically made the entire room immediately visible to anyone walking past in the hallway outside), and I now have a cozy nook in what was previously our guest room (i.e., junk room). I love my new office, though not everything is entirely settled yet. I'm still figuring out where some stuff goes.
Tonight we moved our bedroom from the front of the house to my old office in the rear of the house, more protected from street noise. This will allow us to use the old bedroom (which is the largest of our bedrooms) for something that takes more advantage of the space. Shannon is planning a "family room": sort of an upstairs, more private living room, with a futon, a chair, a coffee table, a tv, and (of course) bookshelves. But we're doing just one room a day (so that we can make each room really livable before we move on).
Normally, I really don't like the whole "rearranging everything" process (especially the "getting tall, heavy bookcases through doorways and around corners" process), but this has actually been kinda fun!
In other house news, one of Ting's guys (who, unfortunately, seems to speak/understand basically *no* English) came over today and spent a few hours jackhammering in our garage, tearing up the whole floor in preparation for laying new cement tomorrow. Soon, our garage will be truly finished. And then Shannon's step-dad is going to help us put in some shelves for storage, which will be extra extra cool.
My mom got her Mother's Day CD and loved it. Hurray! She says she has listened to it several times, but that her favorite part was the booklet with all the memories. That's pretty much what I expected. :)
I've been reading "In Plain Sight" fanfic occasionally lately. Does anyone else even watch that show?
