what a weekend...

Wow..

So I definately have to recap the events of this weekend... Even though I don't particularly want to because its hot as balls in this house and I have no fan and theres no breeze kicking through here... I swear it has to be about 85 degrees in this room... But anyways, the story must be told...

So Friday after work, I meet Joe at my new house where he is waiting for my mattress to be delivered.. but I got out of work early so I decided to stop by and wait with him. We ended up waiting for about an hour and a half by the time they showed up, and we were very hot and tired and slightly cranky at this point. We showered up and got ready to hit the road, and we were off to Essexville by 7:15pm to meet the parents.

Once in Essexville we just hung out most of the night, visited some friends and family and whatnot, showed me off... and were in bed by about midnight.

The next morning, the fun began. I think the day's drama all began, kind of like a bad omen, when Joe was complaining that his father was not making his over-easy eggs properly, and Joe decided he would show him how to do it. So he takes one flip of the pan and the egg lands squarely on the stove top... messy messy. Yes, he sure showed him...

We got on the road to go to Somerset and Great Lakes Crossing in Detroit around 11, only an hour later than expected (not bad for us!). Shopping was a good time, we were very thrifty, Joe especially. He got 5 shirts for $15 at Kids Foot Locker! Can anyone tell me how my 6'0", 180lb. boyfriend can fit into a children's XL teeshirt? I don't know where he puts the weight...

HOLY crap, huge lightning just struck.... Scary thunder... Anywho back to the story.

So shopping went well, it was UBER-hot outside... About 85degrees I'd say. I was loving it -- windows down, a warm breeze blowing in... a perfect day for a drive. Now, it turns out that the 1993 teal Taurus does not necessarily feel the same way. About 2 miles out of Auburn Hills, we hit a traffic jam. We moved about 1 mile in a half hour. At this point its about 7pm, and we are anxious to get home to watch the Pistons game 6. This is the point where we notice the Check Engine light has just kicked on. About 30 seconds later, we notice the engine temperature gauge is beyond HOT. About 10 seconds later, we notice smoke billowing out of the hood. Needless to say, we pull over. Antifreeze is gushing out from under the car. At this point, we also have no idea what to do.

So we call up the good ol' Rivards. At the same time, a Sherrif pulls up behind us in a cop SUV. We talk to both parents and cop for awhile, and copper gives us a ride in said-SUV to a nearby Ruby Tuesdays (blasting 50cent all the way, flying past the traffic jam). After much conversation with AAA and the parents, oh, and it should be noted that this is also about the same time that Joe's cell phone died and so we were relying on mine, which has little to no service in Detroit.. But it was decided we would just chill at Ruby Tues until A) the parents arrived and B) the Pistons had won.

Long story short, the parents show up, we rig up the car and drive it to a gas station, monkeyed with it for a few hours, and then headed back to Bay City. All in all we were home around 2am. A good 15 hour day.

The next morning, Joe's dad worked on it for a bit, discovered the cooling fan was not kicking on, so he rigged it to be on all the time. We headed for Mt. Pleasant, as Joe had to be to work at noon. About halfway home from there, smoke begins to pour into the car via steering wheel column! When we pulled over and turned off the car, Joe removed the keys from the ignition and got out of the trusty taurus. The car was still on. With the keys in his hand. The car would not shut off. At this point the temperature gauge is getting very hot... and we can't turn the car off. Finally after some direction from good ol Mr Rivard, Joe yanked on some wire and the car shut off. Turns out when you leave your engine cooling fan on the entire time, that tends to over heat too and melt all your wires together.

So after the second time of having Joe's parents drive an hour to our rescue, we eventually took the Aerostar van back to Mt Pleasant. Joe was only about an hour and a half late for work, and I proceeded to go shopping. Because thats what I do.

And now its thunderstorming out, which is pretty sweet, so I might just go hangout on the porch and watch it for awhile.

After this entire dilemma, as we were sitting on the benches of Ruby Tuesdays, we decided not to jinx ourselves anymore and that perhaps this day would be our official 'anniversary.' So after a month of hanging out and two months of dating, it was decided yesterday that we would officially be the 'b' and 'g' words...

So thats my story, thats my weekend, and I'm out of this hott-ass room to get some breeze!
