AFI's Top !00 Lists
The American Film Institute (AFI) has produced its list of "Top 100 Fill in the Blank" movie related things. I just checked out their Top 100 Quotes from Movies and have to say that it's brilliant and surprisingly effecting. It's not that the quotes are particularly witty (though some are) or pithy (again, some are) but each sums up its movie in a unique way or represents a seminal moment in our pop culture history. I could give you the quotes and I imagine you could name just about every single movie it comes from.
Another great list is their Top 100 Cheers for the all-time best feel good movies. I still remember watching (don't laugh, it is awesome) No. 98, The Karate Kid on pay per view with my family on a rainy vacation day in some hotel at the beach and we actually did stand up and cheer at the end. I will cavaet this by admitting that my family is very dorky.
