Kill Your Babies

This is grafted from shayenne 's recent post about the top five fanfics she would keep if forced to.  I haven't written all that many so I don't know why I'm even trying, but here goes (in no particular order):

1.  By Your Side - I had the most fun doing this one.  It was fresh off of watching the new Star Trek and I was so infatuated with the Sulu backstory and how it related to Chak that it really swept me away.  Much of my visit to see splv  influenced the writing, the characterizations (spicy food) and the locations (Izzy's Ice Cream).  She really did me a boon by giving me the plot bunny.

2.  Cowboys and Angels -  The Doctor wasn't my first love when it came to Voyager fanfic, but he remains the one I most identify with for some reason, good or bad.  There's a lot of my husband in him and our courtship in this one.  There's something about a man who's skeptical about the world but loves you without limit.  That's real romance.

3.  Like A Tattoo - I always check to see if people are reading this one because it's not something I ever thought I could do.  I wrote it in one day; mostly, because I just couldn't get the C/P pairing out of my mind.  I never thought I could do the characters justice, but the process they go through in this fic most mirrors what real love is like between someone who is innocent, but brash and another who is experienced, but borderline jaded.  The fic started out with a visual of Tom dressed in drag being kissed by Chak.  The soundtrack was Scissor Sisters' "Lovers In the Backseat."

4. She -  This is officially the first fanfic I ever wrote that I was truly proud of.  It was the first time I paid attention to canon and the science of Trek in particular.

5. Territorial - This is not a fic for everyone, I admit.  There's a lot of Alpha Chak in it.  And then there's the anal scene.  But it was about a woman in power and her need to lose control - at least with one person.  It touched on a few squicks in some people, but I still maintain that it's one of the most honest fics I've ever written.
