Well, well. The Hobbit only received three nominations, which doesn't surprise me, unfortunately. I do wish there'd been a nod for Andrew Lesnie, but this year had a lot of beautifully-shot films, so I shouldn't be too surprised he got blocked out either. Anyway, I hope the Hobbit takes two out of its three noms, and the Avengers get the one they don't. :) The Hobbit's visual effects were better, yes, but I enjoyed the ones in the Avengers more. I'm not an Academy voter, so my ~emotions~ win out here.
Earlier this morning I had promised my office I would run out and buy doughnuts if Anne Hathaway wasn't nominated. NO DOUGHNUTS FOR YOU, PEOPLE. Alas alas. Enjoy your bone-throw, Anne, and I hope you get soundly trounced by someone who hasn't spent the last three months droning about her role being her ~destiny~. I am even rooting for Sally Field above you, and I deeply dislike Sally Field as a general rule. (To be fair here, I don't think Hugh Jackman's nomination is an especially good one, either; yes, he did well enough, but on a scale with the other performances in the category? Hmmm, no.)
The sound mixing nomination for Les Miserables is also a bone-throw, and I don't think the film deserves the Oscar. And if "Suddenly" beats any of the other nominations for Song, I may just roll up into a ball of You've Got to Be Kidding. Honestly, I don't see Les Miserables coming home with any of the nominations being winners, other than the bone-throw to Hathaway. And ... I think that's actually fair.
I would like to see Lincoln run away with everything it's nominated for. It's a brilliant movie, and I say that as someone who has relatively little interest in US history, a generalized fantod about Spielberg films, a generalized horror of Daniel Day Lewis, and, yes, that whole Sally Field thing. The only thing I could have wished more for would have been another Supporting nomination for David Strathairn (GET IN MY PANTS), but his role wasn't as flashy as Tommy Lee Jones' so I understand.

Anyway. I'm wearing Vivienne Westwood to the ceremony. On my couch.
