It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
That's right, kids. It's mixtape season. Well, is there really a season? I guess I always think of mixtapes when it gets close to the holidays because I'm a cheapass who still likes to give thoughtful personalized gifts. Also, a recent huge crush gone awry left me with a tracklist and no one to give it to. So, right now I'm compiling a list of every song that I really really love and I'm gonna use that as the basis of my upcoming mixes. I guess, regardless of what else happens in my life, I have music that I absolutely love and nothing can change that. I mean, the soundtrack my iPod provides me with as I walk around the backstreets of downtown Montreal is really amazing. I was listening to Mike Doughty's "I Hear the Bells" while walking through the square at Atwater and St. Catherine's and it was starting to get dark and raining a bit and there were pretty Christmas lights in the bare branches of the trees and I felt somehow blessed. I also felt a bit like Holden watching Phoebe going around on the carousel, but that's another story for another day.
