I'm in computer class. We're going to have to work on a huge powerpoint project and I'm a bit nervous. I'm really tired right now, too.
Yesterday my dad and I debated about proposition 86, which is that the government will add an additional $2.60 tax on cigarettes. The tax will go to funds supporting Anti-Smoking campaigns and hospitals. It's a good idea, but in a way it's not promoting people to stop smoking. Isn't it a bit ironic that we're going to instruct people about the dangers of smoking by getting money from smokers? I don't know, that seems a bit strange to me. It's like it's saying "Buy cigarettes or people will die from smoking!" My dad asked me where else the money would come from, and I said I didn't know. I really don't know.
I don't know.
I keep on thinking about this book I read, called Feed. It's about the people of America in the future, and nearly everyone has a computer inside their brain called the Feed. In school they don't learn any information like today. They learn about how to use the Feed, what products you should buy, and how you should decorate your house. Everyone is dumbed down.
I feel like we're getting closer and closer to a situation similar to this.
