7-10-10
Saaaad face. ;_; I just got done with the last karaoke I’ll be doing here in Japan… We had a good few of our Japanese friends with us (Yusuke, Masa, Kinnousuke, Yuka, etc.) so it was even better… it was them, me, Amanda, Brett, Nikki, and Taylor. Yup… good times. Imma miss karaoke a lot… but mah peeps even more. ;_; Agh… and tomorrow’s my last full day with my host family, so that’s why I’m chillin with peeps down here in the kitchen/living room. AGH I miss my peeps at home, but I’m going to miss Japan SO MUCH. ;_; *sigh*
In any case, I need to do a recap for the rest of the week, since I didn’t write a blog the whole time due to finals/our presentations.
On that note, most of the week was spent stressing over finals in some way, shape, or form. But! There were a few moments of relaxation, such as when we went to the tea ceremony (Tuesday, July 6th). That was cool and very relaxing. The green tea was of high quality, but I really don’t like most tea at all, so yeah XD It was icky, to me. XD But! It was a cool experience. We got to see people prepare it, and we went through the process of turning the bowl after we received it n’ everything. Twas very interesting/educational!
水曜日は (on Wednesday…), it was Tanabata/the Farewell party, so that was cool, too. I got PLENTY of pictures from both events, and even some with お母さんとお父さん。Basically, it was a cool experience, too. They brought Taiko drum people in to perform for us, and we all actually got to play the drums, too! OH and of course, we were all dressed in yukata this whole time!!! It was pretty darn cool, although I wished I had been able to get a black one… I got this pinkish one instead, but it was still really pretty. We get to keep those and some nice geita (sp? They’re the shoes you wear with the yukata). And it was also pretty nifty cause I got to see some peeps host families… OMG Brett’s siblings came and they were being super adorable. It was… Takahara (I think that’s an r and not a t at the end…) and Mito and they were being so cuuuuuuuuute! Mito got nervous around all the people, so there was a point she was literally all up ons Brett’s leg as they walked around. It was so. Friggin. Cute. I’m assuming there will be pictures of that eventually. Anywhoodly! The food was good (like it usually is) and afterward お母さんとお父さん drove me home (after making a sweets run by the market… YESSSS ice cream… they feed me so much ice cream… I <3 them XD). It was a good day that was the tainted by the nervousness of the following day’s presentations.
On that note, I practiced, practiced, and practiced, still messed up a bit, but overall I think I did pretty well! XD I’ll find out when I get my grade in that course… *sighs* XD After that I quickly got some foods from Lawson’s then took Pat’s final… that went pretty dang well (I got a 100 after the extra credit) as I found out on 金曜日。
So, 金曜日 (Friday) was pretty decent, once I got the despair that was the Japanese final out of the way. We went and got lunch and then went back to the CIS room before we headed out for Gion (Kyoto - district where the Geishas are; pretty big tourist spot). We got our notebooks and then we got our grades back from the Japanese final… sooooo apparently it seems like I got the highest grade in the class, even though it was a 77… XD XD We’ll see how that bodes for everyone’s grades. I just hope that we can turn that into an A (although I did get an A+ in Pat’s class with some nice comments! XD). Butchyeah. Then we went to Gion… it was, unfortunately, raining, but we (Me, Amanda, 熊, Taylor, and Elyse) still had fun and looked around at some interesting shops. I got some really cute glass things… I couldn’t help myself. They were just so friggin cute. And I also got myself a cool post card type thing, so that was nifty. But yup. After that I just went home… it was a good day, and then I just got to stay up and chill with my family cause I didn’t have to study or anything!! It was a very nice change.
OH They also had some butamon (pork bun thing) for me… I <3 THAT STUFF SO MUCH. XD It was delicious おいしかったよ!
So yup. Today was spent doing a lil bit of laundry, but mostly just hangin around with Hikaru as he played Mario kart on my DS and then talkin to Momo some before I left for Karaoke. It was a good day… I just wish there had been more of them. In any case, this might be my last post from Japan, so I want to say that I loved it a ton and I can’t wait to come back!!! My host family is expecting me… XD I also hope that they remember me and remember that if they ever want to, they can come stay with me in Georgia!
Well, on that note, imma cut this off so I can hang with them some more. Hikaru is just about done with his ピアノれんしゅう so we’ll see what happens now. おやすみなさい!
