so...today was the interview/open house at pottery barn. it went pretty good, i really hope they give me a good callback. i got up, got ready, took the train, got some starbucks, then went in. there were about 12 other people there besides myself...or possibly 10. of course i was the youngest w/ no previous work experience.
anyway, i really liked the people working there. theyre all so nice and upbeat. and they take work seriously...like out of the 7 jobs i applied to they seem to care the most and be the most selective. considering that williams-sonoma (major corp. that owns pottery barn and a bunch of other chain stores) is a HUGE buisness that makes alotta buckaroos.i honestly get a lil annoyed when i see people who work...just stand around and do nothing but act stupid the entire time theyre supposed to be working, i dunno im the typa person that if im not doing something i get bored fast...really fast. for example, a few days ago i was at applebees in cross county for my moms bday...all the hostesses were ghetto and just stood around being completely annoying and stupid...THE ENTIRE TIME, which got annoying fast.
so, back to the interview. ok so the minute we entered their lil conference room they handed out these availability sheets for us to fill out the hours we can work. after that they basically gave us the 411 on the rules, regulations, expectations, and training and so on and so forth. then this was the funny part...i felt like i joined a group therapy session: they asked us each, in order ,to state our name and give an explanation why we wanna work there, previous work experiences, and a cute lil anecdote or someting about ourself. so i was the third person. and as i looked around i saw everyone was around their early to mid 20's, and i got a quick glance at everyones applications and saw theyve all had previous jobs. so i was the only just-turned-18-asshole-who-hasnt-had-a-job lmfao.when it was my turn...i basically blushed and sounded like a ditzy high school girl that had no work experience lol. i think i didnt do so bad though considering what i had. they seemed to be happy w/ what i said i mean they didnt give me that "...why are u here" look lol. instead they all smiled and nodded their head in like an agreeable manner not in that condescending way...and i was pretty comfortable so i think i explained and presented myself well...and for some reason i was really bouncy and energetic and they emphasized how they really look for that in their staff. right after that they gave us info. on the discounts (40% discounts on everything and 20% on sale items and electronics wo0o0o! lmfao), and the dress code (which is pretty strict) and alla that other stuff. thennn, they randomnly called out each of our names and asked us a question. this kinda freaked everyone out at first cuz it was so on the spot...and some of the questions were about a previous work experience and i was really hoping they didnt ask me a question like that. and they didnt...which was a major relief.
so after all of that was done. i went out and had a cigarette then stopped at barnes & nobles. i started reading this book called Like the Red Panda, it was so good i totally shouldve bought it, like i sat there and kept reading it. then i got a call from sophia who invited me to go out to some party tonight, which i def. couldnt make it to on time lol. then i walked towards lincoln center to catch the train to go to my grandmothers house, and i met up w/ devon...who i seriously havent seen in like forever. he used to go to bdc like all the time then he got all these major gigs and started doing these tours...which is awesome. and we just sat on the steps in front of lincoln center and chatted a bit and i had a few more cigarettes. then after about an hour or so we said bye and i got to my grandmothers house in about half hour.
so0o0o... tomorrow (dun dun dun dunnn)...harry potterrr dayy w/ lettaaa wo0o0o0o. im so excited lol. i feel like a 4 yr old in christmas eve filled w/ excitment lmfao, its gunna be so much funnn.
anyway im sleepy so nightys tightys.
*p.s.- pray for me that i get this job...i mean im really hoping i get it but theres always the other 7 jobs so i wont be all that sad...def. a lil disappointed cuz i really like the place...but i mean 1 outta the 7 jobs should be available...hopefully.
