In your own space, post a rec for fannish and/or creative resources and spaces. Tell us where you go to dig up canon facts for your fandom, or where you get all the juicy details about your favorite ship. Where do you like to hang out and squee like a squeeing thing? Leave a comment in
this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
The following is probably roughly what I would send someone who showed up in my inbox going Hi, I'm new to fandom and you seem nice - help?
fanlore is a fannish wiki that has a lot of useful info about a lot of different things.
crack_van was this huge and sprawling reccing community. They have recs. They also have fandom overviews. Those are organised and linked to in their side bar.
newbieguide is a fannish guide for newbie livejournal users and contains, along with a number of other resources, fandom overviews.
Delicious and
Pinboard are both excellent resources. They're social bookmarking sites that allow their users to create and search for bookmarks with multiple tags.
fancake and
bestthingever are both multi-fandom reccing comms; they're really well-organised, easy to post to, and there's a good chunk of material there.
veni_vidi_vids was a vid rec newsletter of all the recs of vids the mods could find.
VidUKon and
vividcon and both vidding cons and post vidshow set-lists and panel info.
metafandom and
metanews are meta-roundup newsletters. Both are currently inactive, but have deep archives.
podficmeta is specifically for posting meta on podficcing. The
Audiofic Archive is what it says on the tin and is really great.
podfic_love is for recs of fannish vocal performances.
fanart_recs is a comm where people sign up to rec art from a specific fandom for a month.
The Rec Center is a weekly newsletter of fandom recs that has just started up and the formatting is interesting to me.
Slashreport is a fannish podcast that's touched on a number of different topics.
fan_flashworks is an all fandoms multi-media flashworks community.
medievalpoc is a tumblr showcasing works of art from European history that feature People of Color. It is a great resource for all kinds of things - pretty art, info about history, book recs,
writing tips, etc. (This is my one tumblr rec.)
tunefind is a website that helps you find songs from TV and films, which can be really useful, especially if you have fanmix tendencies.
mix_tape is also really good if you have those tendencies.
