Chapter 8 -- The Trouble Starts
It was a quiet day throughout the city. There wasn't much activity going on on either side, it was almost like a classic lazy Saturday afternoon. Everyone was just doing their own thing to pass the time.
At the palace, the King was shut up in his study; no one knew what he was doing.

Down in the computer lab, Tablo was checking the recent logs of the Cardguards and Chessmen. Junki slipped in unnoticed, smiling at the back of the room's only occupant. Walking over he wrapped his arms around Tablo's shoulders. "Hello." He smiled.
The maintainer smiled and kissed the hands wrapped around him. "Hello to you too." He spun around in his chair causing Junki to fall into his lap. "So what have you been up to beautiful?"
"Oh nothing really." Junki shrugged, "Just whatever odd job I'm asked to do."

Up on the roof, the three programs were relaxing. BoA was leaning against the wall by the roof entrance with her legs curled under her, Jaejoong was crouched on the ledge, and Siwon was leaning on another wall with his arms folded. "So that was your brother?" Jaejoong asked and Siwon nodded. "Then you have my word I won't harm him. You two are my friends; I wouldn't hurt a friend like that."
"What if his Majesty orders you to?" BoA asked, large eyes looking up at the youngest of the three. She was the youngest physically but she was older than Jaejoong in creation, Siwon was the eldest in both aspects.
Siwon shook his head. "He won't. Jae hunts humans. My brother is a program, if anything he'd order me... again."
BoA sighed. "This is a crazy question but... If we had the choice, what side would you be on?" Tablo had been adjusting her will like Yunho said, but since Yunho never specified what sort of adjustment, he was increasing her will, allowing her to think more for herself. He had also done that with Jaejoong.
Siwon shrugged, "It's not that crazy of a question, just don't let the king hear you talking like that." He leaned his head back to look at the clouds. "I'd side with the rebels because that's the side Heechul seems to be on. Not to mention, we need to go back to how things were before King Yunho."
"But how was that?" She questioned.
The eldest looked down at her with a soft, warm, older brother sort of smile, "You'll see some day. What about you?"
"Same as you. I don't like being used as a puppet." She said while wrinkling her nose, then looking up at Jaejoong.
The brunette stared out to the horizon, "Whatever side will tell me who I was." Knowing who he was in life was the only thing Jaejoong ever wanted for himself.

Back at the rebel headquarters, in Heechul and Hankyung's room, Heechul was laying out on the bed he had a hand rested on a palm scanner that was attached to the laptop Hankyung was working on. The scanner was a way of scanning, updating, and in general working on physical programs, plugging them in so to speak. After the run in with and explanation about Siwon, Heechul had been a little on the jittery side so Hankyung was running a scan to make sure nothing had overloaded. "Well..." He mused. "Everything seems alright." He smiled giving Heechul a clean bill of health.
"Well of course I’m alright." Heechul beamed. "I was programmed by you and you’re amazing at your job."
Hankyung chuckled, "Thanks love. But I can’t have programmed you perfect without you being perfect to begin with. I don’t know what I’d do without you."

Changmin was at his station having a protected private chat. He was so involved in the conversation that he didn't notice when Donghae and Sungmin popped up behind him.
"Whatcha doin'?" Donghae asked sing-song.
This caused the rebel leader to jump and quickly shut off his monitor, "Don't do that!"
The two youngest just grinned cheekily. "So what are you doing?" Sungmin asked.
"That's none of your business." Changmin huffed. He tried to shoo them away but they just wouldn't go. "Eeteuk!" Changmin called out.
Eeteuk walked over grabbing each boy by the ear. "Come on you two, you're gonna help me and leave Changminnie alone." He dragged the two whining and cursing boys away, much to Changmin's relief.

Junsu was hard at work on something, some of Yoochun's notes in front of him. Said black haired man walked over to his busy bee lover. "What are you doing with my notes, Su?" He questioned, causing Junsu to jump.
"Oh!" The blonde relaxed himself. "I just want to understand what you do more. That's all." He threw his lover his signature sweet smile and Yoochun fell right for it.
Smiling the older of the two kissed his lover's head. "Okay, don't work too hard."
"I won't." Another smile, Junsu watched Yoochun head off to do whatever and he himself got back to work.

A few days later everyone was busily at their stations, Eeteuk buried up to his non-existent White Rabbit ears in deep-net. Yoochun was working on some anti-virus research to better protect their systems. Donghae and Sungmin were also doing some poking around, but in the shallows. Changmin was doing… what ever it was he was doing the other day. Junsu was out of the headquarters off on some errand or other. Finally, Hankyung was getting ready to run another diagnostic on Heechul. "Are you ready, sweetie?" He asked.
Heechul nodded and placed his hand on the scanner. Everything was proceeding normally, but a few minutes into the check Heechul yanked away gasping for breath and twitching uncontrollably, causing the scanner to clatter to the floor.
The noise caught everyone’s attention, pausing what they were doing to see what was wrong with the resident program. "S-Sweetie?" Hankyung questioned.
Heechul managed to gasp out. "S-Something…. Something inside me…."
Hankyung panicked, not knowing what to do. So Yoochun ran over and ran a scan of his own on Heechul. "He’s got a virus." He explained with wide eyes hurriedly pulling Heechul to his station to run more tests.
While Yoochun was doing that, Eeteuk walked over. "Guys… He’s not the only one who’s suddenly been hit. All the Chessmen have been told to emergency shut down."
"So it’s hitting all programs?" Changmin asked.
"No… The Chessmen are all run off the Queen. She, the Jabberwocky, and Siwon have all been hit too."
