'That dweam within a dweam...'

I'm home! I'm at a home anyway :-) - I definitely kissed the ground when I arrived this morning. My time in Cairo wrapped up fairly well, I slept most of the flight from Cairo to Addis (I had a whole row to myself, thank God), the lost luggage people at Bole Airport seem to have it much more together than their counterparts in Cairo do, and Addis is beautiful and busy and warm and full of beggars and dotted with even more new buildings and donkeys and everything :-).

I still can't remember most of my Amharic :-(, but my minimal Russian is definitely still with me :-). Anyways, today was a pretty calm day. The paros and I had brunch at La Parisienne on the way back from the airport, I unpacked my carry-ons (took a long time too ;-) ), I napped, and we had a very lovely dinner in the early evening. The new house is much nicer than the Baliskys' house was and is definitely on par with our first house here. The space fits my parents and their stuff very nicely. A lot of my friends and family friends are either gone or on furlough right now, but a lot of them are here too, and it'll be good to see them.

So, I guess that's just about it for right now. Reflections on Egypt: Arabs are super-loud, their language sounds harsh and angry, and traveling in a country where foreigners are targets for violence is not pleasant and definitely a turn-off. The other tourists I encountered (the foul-mouthed, rude Brits and the gay Dutchman rendez-vousing with his Tunisian boyfriend) definitely weren't so great either though, and I think the noise was more of a surprise 'cause I'd just been in Russia. People are hardly quiet there, but they are much more so than Arabs methinks.

I hope you're all well! Your prayers as always.
